Ikea Jakob space age dining chairs

Ikea_jakob
As regular readers know, Ikea has been producing the budget Tulip-style table called Doksta for some time now. But it hasn’t been selling any chairs that sit well with it. Until now that is – with the Jakob dining chairs.

The Jakob certainly isn’t a Tulip-style chair, but it is in keeping with the table, with its slightly space age look in white and chrome legs. it also has a removable pad for comfort and a swivel if you get bored at the table.

You can pick one up for £85.

Notebooks recycled from vintage Ladybird books

Ladybird_etsy
We have featured Ladybird books in the past – great examples of vintage design that you will regularly find in old bookshops. And if you like them, but don’t really need an old school reference book cluttering up the house, how about these notebooks recycled from vintage Ladybird books?

They’re available now from Etsy, each featuring a cover from an original Ladybird book, as well as some of the super-cool illustrations from the original book too. The books have been re-bound with double-o metal ring and now feature over 100 sides of white-lined notebook paper for your notes and jotting.

Not bad value either at $17.50, which is around £9.

Littlewoods 70s-style Angel leisure chair

Littlewoods_angel
Littlewoods
isn’t the first place you would look for retro design, but the high street retailer is currently stocking a great example – this 70s-style Angel leisure chair.

This soft leather chair borrows a little from the Ligne Roset Togo seating (and not for the first time on the high street), but adds a chrome swivel base and a good choice of colour. Note that the back of the seat is faux leather, with the rest being real leather.

Which has probably helped to keep the cost down a little – it retails for £269.

Habitat’s Lab candelabra

Habitat_candelabra
Candelabras might conjure up visions of gothic mansions or Liberace, but they can also be pretty cool things to have in the home – especially if they look like the Lab candelabra from Habitat.

Miles away from the gothic, this four-slot candelabra looks like a quirky piece of 1960s design, but is actually a modern creation by The Swedes for Habitat, available in a choice of colours (although only this fennel green seems to be available online).

Yours for £16.

Moncler 70s-style short winter jacket

Moncler_2
Guaranteed to turn heads in a very retro way is this eye-catching Moncler 70s-style short jacket.

Aimed very much at the winter reveller, the short jacket is a very bright orange with contrasting black ‘popper’ fasteners, zip front, high neck and a hemline that’s designed to sit on your hips. And on a practical note, there’s enough padding to keep you warm when the temperatures drop (or if you happen to spending time in a ski resort).

The only downside is the price – it retails for £415.
