Selema Dress by Diane von Furstenberg

Dvfdress

Among the designer houses there are only a few who are reliably retro season after season. Chiming with a vintage-look aesthetic once again is Diane von Furstenberg, with a new line including this Selema Dress.

Featuring a floral print that manages to be both current and retro, the cut of the dress takes cues from a sixties and seventies aesthetic. The collarless high neckline and casual loose cut tap into a Eastern-influenced kaftan style, always associated with a late sixties chic.

It's available online in the UK from Matches Fashion for £346.

Mini Bobo retro-style table lamp at B&Q

Bobo

Another retro gem we spotted at our local B&Q – this Mini Bobo table lamp.

It's a rather smart 70s-style design, in a classic 'eyeball' shape on a matching stand, which also allows you to adjust that light wherever you want it.

If you're not keen on the chrome, there's also a black or a white finish, with all selling at th3e same price – a very affordable £6.98 online.

eBay watch: Robin Day space age 4-4000 armchair for Hille in brown and cream

Hille

We have featured one of these previously, but I'm flagging up this Robin Day 4-4000 armchair for Hille because of its unusual colour scheme and the cheap price.

The chair was made by Hille in the 1970s as part of a 'Living Theme' collection, which was pitched at a younger crowd and sold in cool places like Habitat. As you can, it's very much of its era.

Usually they're in cream (we have one in this colour), but the model on eBay is an unusual brown with contrast cord cushions (I think these are likely to be original too). An underrated space age gem and right now available for £99.

Clementine 1970s table lights

Clem

These are vintage items, but interestingly, the Clementine table lights available at the Modern Warehouse still come with their original boxes.

Dating back to the 1970s and deriving from Denmark, the lights were presumably a fun rather than high-end design – which it still is today. An alien-like shape that offers up some space age-style mood lighting for your living room.

Not too expensive either – just £40 each.

Hailey Wrap Dress from Monsoon

Floralwrap

With the sunshine's arrival floral prints are everywhere you look in fashion, meaning plenty of extra choices for a variety of retro looks. While many may be distinctly modern, Monsoon's Hailey Wrap Dress taps into vintage inspiration in both print and silhouette.

The wrap shape, invented in the 1970s, retains some of the original era's charm and figure-flattering appeal. The print, however, is more evocative of a forties aesthetic, meaning the dress is ideal for adapting to either era's look. Dressed with the right accessories, this dress is a great wardrobe filler for those of us who like to chop and change our retro influences.

Gail Silk Jersey Jumpsuit by Tory Burch

Burchjumpsuit

With endless supplies of eighties style jumpsuits on the high street, it can be easy to forget the all-in-one item existed before then. Tapping into a 1970s version of the look, this Tory Burch jumpsuit reminds us exactly why it's worth going off the beaten track for fashion.

Made from a silk jersey fabric, the secret of this garment's 70s look is the expertly casual draping of the material which creates an easy elegance. Combining a perfect balance of femininity and casual chic, the halter neckline perfectly offsets wide legs and a low-slung waistline. Finished in a deep navy shade, the simple, classic style of this piece is undeniable.
