Mosaic Dress from Monsoon

Monsoondress

Tunic style dresses are one of the simplest ways to get sixties and seventies chic without the effort. This Mosaic Dress from Monsoon captures a simple, chic and retro style with subtle flair.

The embroidery throughout lends an early seventies feel to the dress, drawing on the popular eastern influence of the time. The dress, however, avoids too folk or hippy a style by using a well tailored shape. The high neck, flared three quarter sleeves and loose fit counteract the amount of leg on show to give a youthful but sophisticated retro style.

Tweed Coat by Paul & Joe Sister

Pjsister

Investing in a coat that goes with everything doesn't have to mean opting for black, and luckily grey heritage-look fabrics are the perfect choice to achieve a retro feel. This Tweed Coat by Paul & Joe Sister has all the chic and practicality you could want from a wear-always winter coat.

The high double breasted buttons combine perfectly with flaring, skirted pleats to create the dolly-esque shape made popular in the mid sixties. Made from a rich grey tweed, the luxury of the fabric sells itself, with a neat high collar adding structure to make this as practical and warm as it is attractive.

It's available now from John Lewis for £359.

Sandrine Dress by Coast

Sandrine

Simple and well done silhouettes are the mark of a great sixties style dress, and the a-line mini dress is a shape that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. This Sandrine Dress by Coast is a great interpretation that retains some real retro appeal.

The sleeveless cut coupled with a high slash neck creates the minimised bust that the mid sixties look favoured, while offsetting a mini hemline that shows just enough flesh. The a-line is perfectly tapered to give a loose fitting but feminine shape, while graphic stripes fit perfectly for a vintage look.

Party Ring Necklaces

300

Birthday party spreads back in the 1970s when I was a child usually included a plate of party ring biscuits, so the shameless nostalgic in me as instantly drawn to these Party Ring Necklaces.

Whether I would actually wear one is another matter entirely. Like the biscuits, the necklaces are available in a choice of colours, but are presumably made from plastic rather than colourful icing. The necklaces cost £15 each and are handmade so no two are exactly the same.
