We love the Sanyo Xacti camcorders- easy to use, retro looks (reminiscent of vintage super 8 cameras) and at the affordable end of the market. There’s plenty of models to choose from, including the newly-launched Sanyo Xacti HD800.

Take your pick from gold, pink or black, with the camera shooting high-definition footage (720p) to SD or SDHC card, as well as taking still images (with 5x zoom) via the 8 megapixel sensor. Other improvements include improved video quality with less ‘noise’, easy drag and drop movement of files and easy upload to YouTube.

It’s just been launched in Japan, so expect it here in a couple of months, priced around £230.
