At first glance, we though these sets might be the work of Alexander Girard. They aren't, but that should give you a clue as to where the inspiration for the Les Jouets Libres chess set and draughts set might have come from.
Take your pick from the Mesdames And Messieurs draughts set or the La Cour Du Roi chess set, both sold in an organic cotton bag (which doubles as the board), wooden pieces and a set of stickers to customise each one with the wonderful designs you can see above and below.
Both sets are made in France, but available in the UK, the draughts selling for £20 and the chess for £22.
