Present & Correct Endangered Species poster

Present_correct
There seems to be a trend for reissuing vintage posters right now and while this Present & Correct Endangered Species poster isn’t actually old, it’s certainly got the look of an old school poster.

Part art, part public information service, the poster is an alphabet of endangered species in the UK, each letter featuring a textbook-like image of the living thing in decline. And that blue and brown colour scheme only adds to the retro feel.

Sized at A2 and printed on recycled paper, you can pick one of these up for £17.50 online.

V&A’s Vintage Camera apron

Camera_apron
The V&A has recently been hosting an exhibition of the work of Lee Miller and offering some merchandising to match, including this rather smart Vintage Camera apron.

The apron is made from 100 per cotton and features a light meter and a Rolleiflex – kit of choice for Miller – as well as a Lee Miller signature on the patch pocket on the front.

In fact, it looks so smart, it’s almost a shame to risk splashing it whilst cooking. Available online, you can pick one of these up for £15.

“Will Patrons Kindly Refrain…” Poster

Swatch_225_sw_imageNo Bombing. No Ducking. No Petting. These warnings should all be familiar to anyone who went to a public swimming pool in the UK in the 1970s/1980s where the ‘Will Patrons Kindly Refrain…’ poster represented the ultimate guide to pool etiquette.

Pedlars has acquired some of these iconic posters from a limited print run. They are being sold framed for approximately £90. The Pedlars site insists the poster should ‘Not to be Used as a Pool Safety Aid’, but I don’t see why not as it still offers sound advice. It could perhaps be hung in the bathroom where the same rules apply.

If the poster wouldn’t go with your décor, it is also available as a tea towel for £9.50.

Warhol-style Banana shower adhesive

Slipnomore Digging deep on the French design site Atypyk, we’ve encountered a very smart addition for your bathroom – this Andy Warhol-style Banana shower adhesive.

It works like a shower mat, just peel your banana, stick to the bath or shower (wherever you might stand) and its non-slip surface will stop you from slipping or stumbling as you wash. And of course, they’ll add some retro cool to your bathroom.

Three in a pack, with a pack retailing for 12 Euros (which is around £8).

“All Books Should Have Pictures” Illustrations & Prints

NoirartArtist John Clark has come up with what can only be described as a novel idea for his art!

For his “All Books Should Have Pictures” series, he takes the pages of mystery novels as the canvas for his drawings of modern day femme fatales, Lolitas and other sultry ladies.

Drawn in black, key phrases and words are left exposed, giving each piece its title. The results are a blend of film noir aesthetics, pulp fiction and the darker edges of pop art.

Original illustrations vary in cost from $36 to $60 (approximately £18-£30) or prints for around $10 (£5). They are, of course, all paperback book size. He also does watercolours and paintings which are more expensive.

His full collection can be found on his Etsy shop.
