So many good ones around right now, but I’ve managed to keep this down to five of the best vintage Adidas trainers reissues.
In fact, I’ll probably keep this one updated as new ones come and go, as there are so many appearing, and most only briefly as they sell through. As ever, get in quickly as some styles just don’t appear that often, and you’ll regret not buying when they are gone.
So here are my five personal favourite Adidas reissues right now. Starting with one that’s not been around for some years.
1980s Adidas Trinidad and Tobago trainers
Not been around since 2015, this classic from the Adidas Island Series is well worth investigating.
Echoing what I said earlier about some styles disappearing from view, this one is back for the first time in 10 years with a design pretty much unchanged for 40 years. With a shape like many of the City Series shoes, it has an orange suede upper, contrasting black three-stripes (and heel), a custom tongue logo and a classic gum sole.
That’s pretty much it. Like all the best Adidas, the simplicity is the appeal. Just out in limited numbers for £100.

1960s Adidas Japan trainers in blue
The Adidas Japan in the original white landed early in the year. But this version is blue is, for me, even more appealing.
Originally designed and released for the Tokyo Olympics back in 1964, this was and is a leisure shoe that has barely changed in 60 years. Except that there’s now a more practical and eye-catching blue finish with white details. Not much else has changed, with the heel tab, suede too, slim profile and narrow gum sole.
A 1960s classic, it sells for £110.

Adidas Italia 70s trainers
A 1960s version landed in very small numbers, but the Adidas Italia 70s trainers are more widely available.
And they don’t look massively different, with the design tweaked, but not radically altered a decade on from its release. A 1960s look but with a chunkier (and likely more practical) sole. Suede toe, contrasting green stripes, a buffer to the front and the trademark cross at the back. All finished with the gold branding.

1970s Adidas München trainers in green
Plenty of colours in the past, but the Adidas München trainers in green are, I think, a first.
Dating back to 1976, this Adidas classic does come and go out of the range, but is here right now in a couple of colours, the green being the most appealing. The green suede is described as a Court Green, with a different shade of green for the details, and a classic gum sole that is based on the version sold in Japan in the 1980s.
£90 gets you a pair.

Adidas SL72 PT trainers
Now for something a little different – but just as appealing in a vintage way.
Everyone knows the SL72, a classic running shoe that’d perhaps best remembered as the shoe worn by Starsky in Starsky and Hutch. An old school runner that has always been popular. But this is a variation on it.
The PT arrived around the same time as a running/workout shoe, and a design that differs in detail. The suede, the laces, and get sole. But it’s still very much in the same ballpark.
Two versions reissued, a blue and white, and the yellow and blue you can see here. Both sell for £100.
