Mixing brick-building fun with old-school nostalgia is this incoming Lego retro arcade machine set.
Not that the arcade machine is a thing of the past. There are still plenty around, and there are a number of places out there that pack in loads of them to play for a flat fee. I went to one in Bury not long ago. But it’s fair to say that the heyday of the arcade machine was prior to everyone having a console in their home.
And there’s more to this 468-piece Lego set that initially meets the eye, too. It’s not just an arcade machine.
Designed for adults and kids over the age of 10 (but I can see adults being the core market), this is an arcade machine in Lego form, but it also opens to reveal a gamer’s room with a buildable mini arcade game station, computer, sofa and a LEGO minifigure with a remote control. Yes, all that is packed in here.
Oh yes, there are even coins to slot into the machine, which thankfully come out again (unlike the real deal).
It’s not the biggest thing at just over six inches high, but it’s the kind of thing that will look great on display in your home or in your home office when completed.
Fancy one? You can’t get one just yet, as the arcade machine set doesn’t go on sale until 1st August. But you can put some money aside now for when it does – it sells for £34.99.
