Trellick Tower Skirts

Trellicklargelozrubinepl

People Will Always Need Plates have joined forces with Clothkits for their latest product, Trellick Tower Skirts.

Moving away from their original product line of plates and crockery, they have moved into new territory of fashion, but still using their signature design of the Brutalist architecture landmark.

The skirt is available either as a sew-it-yourself kit or ready made item. The kit provides the material to make the skirt in any size between 8 and 20. For those less able with a sewing machine, the skirt can be made to order, but this will take an extra 14 days.

Barcelona Day Bed

Barcelonadaybed

I’m pretty sure that you will be familiar with the Barcelona Chair by Mies Van Der Rohe, but what about the Barcelona Day Bed?

It has the same understated style as the more famous chair, but a decadent day bed is perhaps more interesting. It is made from stainless steel with full grain Italian leather upholstery.

It is available to buy from Iconic Interiors, priced £820, in a choice of black, brown, tan, cream or white, although the black is the classic option.

Hendrix_guitar__1__high_2

Jimi Hendrix’s 1965 Fender Stratocaster will be auctioned on 4 September. The guitar was set alight by Hendrix at the Finsbury Astoria gig in 1967 and remains the only surviving burnt guitar fully intact but with distictive burn marks.

The guitar is expected to fetch $1 million at an auction of musical artefacts at the Idea Generation Gallery next month, in association with The Fame Bureau. Also up for sale are the last surviving drum kit of Led Zepplin’s John Bonham, Jim Morrison’s final notebook of poetry and musings and a signed song sheet from Band Aid’s “We are the World” signed by stars including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.

Idea Generation Gallery is at 11 Chance Street London E2 7JB. www.ideageneration.co.uk. For sales enquiries contact The Fame Bureau.

The V & A museum may frequently have fashion-related exhibitions, but still it wouldn’t spring automatically to mind when I’m shopping for clothes. However, currently available to buy from their online shop is this 1960s Sequinned Top.

Created exclusively for the museum as part of the recent Supremes exhibition, it is based on a style worn by the girl group. It is made from matt satin with a silver and gold sequinned collar. It has been reduced from £50 to £35, and is available in three sizes.

“Vintage Boutique” Collection from Warehouse

Warehousevintage

One of Warehouse’s new collections is the “Vintage Boutique” range. Sadly, the collection isn’t really vintage, just designs inspired by the styles often found in a vintage store, what they are describing as “thrift shop chic”.

Dresses are priced between £55 and £70 and included floral tea dresses and drop-waist styles. There are also some 1920s-inspired accessories such as a feather headband (£16) and a frame bag (£25).

To shop the collection, visit the Warehouse website.
