Look Back in Time 1960s Wall Mirror

1960swallmirrorNaïve is another company that specialises in renovating old fashion in quirky ways (there seem to be quite a few companies doing this these days). Perhaps the most interesting piece in their current range is the “Look Back in Time” 1960s Wall Mirror.

The mirror is an unusual irregular shape but to add even more character, it has been decorated with striped of wallpaper in brown, orange and yellow, to complete the retro look.

It costs £32 and can be ordered from Naïve’s store on Not on the High Street. There is also a matching sideboard available.

Niki De Saint Phalle products

P400584806_3Niki De Saint Phalle came to prominence in the 1960s, a rare woman in the male dominated art world in Paris. She has often been overlooked and not taken seriously but the Tate Liverpool is currently showing an exhibition of her work.

If you can’t make it to Liverpool in the next few weeks, you can console yourself with a selection of Niki De Saint Phalle products that are available to buy from the Tate Online Shop.

Representations of womanhood feature heavily in her work, in particular in her “Nanas”, brightly colour female forms and these have been translated into designs on t-shirts, notebooks and fridge magnets. Prices range from £2.50 for a small notebook up to £25 for adult t-shirts.

See the complete range on the Tate website.

Yesterday’s News Coloured Pencil Set

NewspencilsUnless you are an artist, you may not have had much call for coloured pencils since you left school, but this set is definitely aimed more at adults than school children. Called “Yesterday’s News”, the set of 12 coloured pencils are made from recycled Chinese newspapers!

Each pencil is produced using tightly wrapped sheets of newspapers, so the print features censored journalism, classified ads and table tennis results. They are supplied in a tube also made from recycled newspaper.

They would make an interesting gift and only cost £2.35 from the Days Gone By Shop.

Stars Wars T-Shirt

StarwarstIf you liked the Vintage Star Wars Print Tote Bag mentioned yesterday, then you may also be interested in this Star War T-Shirt from Topshop.

It features a retro Japanese Star Wars print that has that worn in look about it. It is printed on a crew-neck cap-sleeved t-shirt.

I’m not altogether convinced by the pale pink colour of the t-shirt but that is a minor detail.

It costs £18 and can be bought from the Topshop website.

Retro Tea, Coffee and Sugar Tins

TscWe are forever featuring mugs and cups to drink from, but what about somewhere to store your tea and coffee? This set of Retro Tea, Coffee and Sugar Tins could be the storage solution you need.

They are produced by Disaster Designs and whilst they are new product, rather than a genuine vintage set, they do look to be based on sets from the 1960s or 1970s. In fact, I’m pretty sure we had a set just like this back in the mid-seventies.

They are available to buy on the Iggloo website and cost £20 for a set of three jars.

Vintage Star Wars Print Tote Bag

Star_wars_tote_bagDupenny make tote bags made from vintage fabric. The current selection includes several made from retro floral material, but it was this Vintage Star Wars Print Tote Bag that particularly caught my attention.

It is made from fabric printed with cartoon incarnations of Star Wars characters.  As they are handmade from vintage fabric, they can not guarantee that each bag will look exactly like the one picture so you may get more R2-D2 than Han Solo!

It is backed with cotton canvas for extra durability and has a navy materials reverse and matching handles.

It costs £18 and is available to buy from Dupenny through the Not on the High Street website.
