WorldcupSporting Greats are selling a range entitled “World Cup Art” which includes all of the World Cup Posters from the 1930s up to 1990.

Others of note include Sweden 1958 (a predominantly yellow design), Argentina 1978 (a blue image of two players) and Mexico 1970 (a simple pink design featuring the typical seventies style font). There is also one from England’s 1966 World Cup, which features a cartoon lion if you are particularly patriotic.

All of the posters cost £14.95 and can be ordered via Amazon.

Kat Boon Design Long Cushions

Tn_39Kat Boon Design uses vintage fabrics with bold retro patterns (florals and geometric shapes) alongside simpler, classic materials to create interesting pieces and her Long Cushions are a perfect illustration of this style.

There are currently three cushions to choose from.  Pictured here is the Hawiian Blue cushion that combines 70s Hawaiian florals with silk.  The other designs feature an unusual 60s metallic fabric and a 50s style floral print respectively.

The cushions cost £30 each and can be bought from the Kat Boon Design website.

Robert Brownjohn Peace Print

Peace_poster_better1Robert Brownjohn was an influential figure in graphic design in both 1950s New York and 1960s London. His work included titles for James Bond films and artwork for the Rolling Stones. The Design Museum recently had an exhibition of his work and although it is too late to see the show, it is not too late to buy one of the limited edition Peace prints commissioned to accompany it.

The Peace poster features the ace of spades between a scrawled P and E with a question mark and was the last piece of work he completed before his death in 1970. It was commissioned to support the New York Peace Campaign in 1969.

This edition consists of 100 numbered prints, on sale for £75. If you like the design but not the price, there is also a poster version available for £5. Visit the Design Museum Shop to buy.

Both the armchair and sofa have a frameless body with a boxy shape that is still popular today. They are available in a range of colours and fabrics, although the stark white leather option fits best with a space-age décor.

Prices start at £1390.00 for a fabric armchair and go up to £4045.00 for a 3-seater sofa in leather – not quite throw-away prices!

Visit Nest to see all of the options.

PPQ/Ben Sherman Five Decades of Dresses

60dressClothing labels PPQ and Ben Sherman have collaborated together on a range entitled "Five Decades of Dresses".  Each dress in the range reflects a different decade and the music style associated with the period.

Starting with the 1960s and mod, the collection continues through 1970s(rock) , 1980s (ska), 1990s (Britpop) up to the present decade (indie).

Predictably, the earlier decades have the better dresses with a Twiggy-esque black and white shift dress for the 60s and a purple paisley print shirt dress for the 70s, although the simple striped number for the 90s isn’t bad either.

All five dresses cost £175 and can be ordered online from the Ben Sheman website.
