Limited edition Fiat 500 by Diesel goes on sale in UK – but online sales only

500_diesel

Remember the Fiat 500 by Diesel? We featured it a couple of months back, but suspected it wouldn’t be made available in the UK. We were wrong.

Yes, you can now get your name down for a limited edition Fiat 500 by Diesel in the UK, but you have to do it online. Fiat is offering 10,000 of the limited editions to UK buyers on a ‘first come first served’ basis, with the option of configuring to your heart’s content and (we presume) home delivery.

Oluce Fiore space age suspension lamp

Oluce_fiore

We have featured Oluce previously, most notably for its range of Joe Colombo-designed lights and lamps. But they don’t just specialise in a vintage designs, they also offer a nice line in retro designs too – like the Oluce Fiore suspension lamp.

Very much in the 60s space age style, the Fiore (designed by Marco Romanelli and Marta Laudani) is a mix of chrome and blown glass, with a choice of seven or 13 bulbs for the diffused light. If you’re after that 60s/70s look, it’s hard to beat.

Prices start at around £700.

Junkshop Gem: Cook Now Dine Later by Catherine Althaus and Peter Ffrench-Hodges

Cooknow

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover – but I think we know what we’re getting from Cook Now Dine Later by Catherine Althaus and Peter Ffrench-Hodges.

Yes, this is 60s dinner party territory. But not only that, according to the preface, this is a book that will ‘appeal to any bride who intends to go on working after her marriage.’ And one with a strong stomach too. The food in here is pretty astounding – we’ve tried to find a recipe we might be able to keep down, but so far haven’t dared go near one.

Sistrah T3 1930s table lamp

Sistrah

Not 30s style, this is a genuine 1930s design – the Sistrah T3 table lamp.

The Sistrah lights were designed by C.F. Otto Müller in collaboration with Karlsruhe Technical College in 1932 and are still made today with the original tools. The light comes from a two-tier clear glass ‘bell’ and a glass hood, all mouth-blown in the traditional way. And that distinctive stand is made of solid, nickel-plated brass, while the heavy base is nickel-plated cast steel.

If you’re looking for that 1930s period look, this is pretty much perfect – and yours for £425.
