Electra Holiday Cruiser bicycle for Gap

Gap_electra

We liked the Electra Alexander Girard bike very much – and we’re equally impressed with the Electra Holiday Cruiser bicycle for Gap.

It’s available for both adults and children, both featuring that distinctive retro Electra look, a lightweight aluminium frame, coaster brakes and of course, that bold blue argyle design and matching blue seat.

Gap (strangely) doesn’t have a UK website, so we’re guessing this is US only, unless you know better. Our US readers can pick up the child’s version for $299 and the adult version for $499. And if you see it in the UK, please let us know.

Michael Fish Retro Weather fridge magnets

Fish_weather

All those computer-generated graphics just don’t cut it as much as the old school weather forecasts – where the forecaster earned his (or her) corn by slapping sticky icons on a map. Something you can now do in the comfort of your own home with the Michael Fish Retro Weather fridge magnets.

Yes, fronted by the BBC’s most famous weatherman, the kit offers you an endless range of weather images (and one of Michael himself) to create your own map – rain, wind, snow, thunder, temperature – you name it they’re all here. And if you fancied the job as a kid, it’s a dream come true.

A cheap dream too, with the 40+ magnets selling for £7.95.

Adidas Tokio trainers return in white and blue

Adidas_tokio

Another 1960s trainer returns alongside the Italia – the Adidas Tokio.

Originally dating from 1964 and designed as a running shoe, the Tokio is more about style than sport these days. The last time we saw it was in red and white, this time it’s in white with blue detailing and a  it of off-white suede, the laces still that distinctive ‘archival’ slim variety.

Available on pre-order, you can bag a pair for £79.

John Lewis space age Supernova ceiling light

Supernova

Not to be confused with the Ferruccio Laviani light of the same name, the John Lewis Supernova ceiling light offers the 60s space age look without the designer price tag.

Very much in the sputnik style, the Supernova is packed with glass rods, mixing it up with 12 halogen lights from that central chrome sphere to produce a lighting effect as well as a serious amount of brightness.

Available instore and online, it sells for £230.

Orla Kiely Cork easy chair

Orla_cork

We featured the Orla Kiely Lusk armchair some time back, but I think I prefer the Orla Kiely Cork easy chair.

A classic mid-century look, the Cork is available in plain (as above) or with an Orla Kiely fabric print, should you be feeling a little more bold. And the low-slung chair itself has a beech frame, with walnut stain finish.

Available online, prices start at just under £1,000.

BoConcept Veneto retro-styled armchair

Bo

A modern design, but with a look that’s firmly rooted in the 1960s – the BoConcept Veneto armchair.

Very space age in style, the chair is perfect as a reading chair or lounger and it’s also good to go in just about any room – you can choose your fabric colour, go for leather and choose from two different styles of aluminium ‘feet’.

The only downside is ordering – BoConcept doesn’t do online shopping, so you’ll have to find a local store. If you do, the Veneto is priced from £689.
