Jonathan Adler Caprice dining table

Caprice

No, it isn’t named after the model, the Jonathan Adler Caprice dining table is actually named after the 1967 comedy-thriller starring Doris Day and Richard Harris.

And that’s not the only vintage inspiration on display here – the table is described as ‘a contemporary interpretation of the classic Saarinen table’, keeping the same profile, but offering a walnut veneer and curved polished nickel legs, with a size that’s good for between six and eight diners.

Right now this is US-only, with a price quoted at $2,950, which works out at around £2,000 at the current exchange rate.

Ilse Crawford Studioilse desk lamp

Studioilse

It might look like a vintage take on the classic Anglepoise lamp, but the Studioilse desk lamp is actually a modern design.

The work of Ilse Crawford, it’s made of very traditional materials – an iron base, a wooden arm and a porcelain shade, with a vintage-style switch in the base. Combined they create something that wouldn’t look out of place in a modernist-inspired room.

Available now, it sells for £323.

Alessandro Mendini Proust Armchair

Proust0001

The Proust Armchair was designed in 1978 by Alessandro Mendini and has been reissued by Cappellini.

The armchair has a hand-carved and hand-painted wooden frame, upholstered with multicolor fabric in a choice of of blue/grey/yellow or black/green/red.

It is available to buy from Viaduct although no price is given. For such a decadent piece of furniture, I think it is safe to assume the price tag will be high. Visit the Viaduct website to enquire.

Kay Bojesen classic Rocking Horse

Bo_horse

Kay Bojesen is no stranger to this site – we’ve already featured his classic mid-century Monkey and Elephant. But the Kay Bojesen Rocking Horse is an altogether bigger beast.

Designed back in 1942, it’s a timeless design for a timeless toy, made of beech wood and with a ‘trustworthy and open face’. After creating the horse Bojesen said: ‘From now on, no children are going to be bored.’ Obviously times have changed since he said it, but the rocking horse is still a stylish thing to have in your home, as long as you have children obviously.

This one will set you back around £415.

Le Klint 175 – 1971 space age pendant light

Leklint_175

At the same time as he was designing the Le Klint 172, Poul Christiansen was also creating the Le Klint 175 pendant light.

The difference? Well, it’s all in the folding. The 175 (also dating from 1971) has the same space age look and woven plastic construction, only this time it’s slightly wider and with slightly less ruffles. Every bit as stylish though.

You can pick one up online, with prices starting at £179.
