Nintendo NES controller pillow case

Nes_cushion

What can you buy the retro gamer who has everything? How about the Nintendo NES controller pillow case.

It’s another Etsy gem, made with 100% super soft Fleece and machine sewn for solid construction. It’s also machine washable and dryable and good to fit most pillows.

Not a bad price either at $40 (£20), with two available for $70 (£35).

Mary Quant-style Bloom Sandwich light

Quant_light_2
I probably don’t need to tell you that the Bloom Sandwich light is more than likely based on the Mary Quant Daisy design.

Which is no bad thing if you want to add a quirky sixties-style twist to a room. There are three colours to choose from (red, yellow and white), all made natural (and eco-friendly) wool felt and with a 180mm diameter.

You can pick one up for £35.

70s-style Sugar Box by Give Me Some Sugar

Artisan
This might look like a piece of ceramic from the 1970s, but it’s actually a modern and eco-friendly Sugar Box by Give Me Some Sugar.

Ok, you might not need a container for your sugar, but it’s certain to have uses too. Available in orange, green or red, the Sugar Box is handcrafted by Vietnamese villagers who make this lacquerware in their spare time for an additional income. Which means you’re helping people in poverty sustain themselves too.

Sized at 4 x 4 x 4.25 inches, it retails for $17.95, which is around £9.

Lobster Chair – the Egg Chair for 2008

Lobsterchair

Ok, this isn’t an official update on the Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair, but the Lobster Chair certainly has its roots with that late 50s classic.

Lobster is probably down to its claw-like shape, but for me, the design isn’t the most eye-catching aspect – that’s the bent wood construction and its walnut veneer, matched with a quality leather, Pantera foam for comfort and the chrome-plated steel base. Other finishes are available, but none are quite as classy.

We know it is designed by Lund & Paarmann for Verikon Furniture, but as yet, we don’t have a fixed price. More when we know it.

Ikea Tirup swivel armchair

Ikea_tirup
Another interesting new design from the new Ikea range – the Tirup swivel armchair.

Very much in ‘Bond villain’ territory, the Tirup by Carl Öjerstam is available in black, lilac or white hard-wearing leather, with comfort from moulded, high-resilience polyurethane foam and support from the chrome-plated steel frame.

Available now, it retails for £289.

60s-style Zzo lounge chair

Zzo

By far one of the most stylish chairs we’ve seen in a long time – although the Zzo lounge chair comes at a price.

That dark wood, caramel upholstery and chrome base oozes late 60s cool and to add to the appeal, this Brazilian-made chair is eco-friendly too, made from a pau ferro veneer that’s 100% FSC certified.

Not cheap though – it’s available online for £2,350.
