Vintage telephone cushion at John Lewis

Telephone_cushion

Another quirky thing for your sofa – this vintage telephone cushion, which is currently available at John Lewis.

What you see is what you get, a novelty cushion shaped like an old fashioned black dial telephone, the whole thing looking like more a cartoon illustration of a 'phone than the real deal – and all the better for it.

It's made of 100 per cent cotton, with a polyester lining and is available online, priced at just £15.

Tunnock’s teacake cushion by Nikki Made

Tunnock cushion

When it comes to icons of the UK's cake/biscuit industry, Scotland's Tunnock's teacake has to be up there, going strong since the 1950s. Celebrate a bit of that sweet history with this Tunnock's teacake cushion by Nikki Made

The cushion uses the distinctive packaging of those teacakes to make an impact. Circular shaped, their cotton, has been screen-printed with those instantly recognisable red stripes. Team them up with one of  Gillian Kyle's bags and mugs for a teacake-tastic look.

Each cushion costs £12.

Unto This Last Chest of Drawers

WalnutHDi
This Chest of Drawers is one of several storage solutions from Unto This Last, which are made to look more interesting with their retro-style curved corners.

The company takes its name from a book by John Ruskin advocating a return to the local craftsman workshops. They work on the principle of offering craftsmanship at mass produced prices by avoiding industrial fittings, and cutting down on transportation and packaging costs. The downside of this is that they will only deliver within in London. The walnut version pictured here costs £450, or you can get a white version for £370.

Visit the Unto This Last website for full details.
