Kundalini Pluto Pendant Lamp

KUNSPLUT

The Kundalini Pluto Suspension Light is not a vintage design, but merits its inclusion here by the insistence of its description that the shade is shaped to resemble an art deco hat.

This resemblance is easy to see, but not so obvious that the shade becomes a novelty item. The glass has been mouth blown so each shade will be unique.

You can buy the Pluto shade online from Utility Design for £207.

Balmoral Apple Mugs

Balmoralapplemugs

The Balmoral Apple Mugs feature a bold apple design, reminiscent of Enzo Mari’s “La Mela” pattern from the 1960s.

The apple design come in a range of colours that you wouldn’t normally associate with the fruit; blue, lilac, orange and yellow, as well as the more natural red and green.

The mugs cost just under £10 each from The Hambledon.

Nest Rotating Shelving Unit

TP-NEST

The Nest Rotating Shelving is formed of multiple sections, arranged in a geometric pattern on top of a rotating base.

The sellers are describing it as “contemporary” but to my eye, it wouldn’t look out of place in a 1970s lounge with its use of wenge and geometric patterns.

It costs just under £670 from Amode.

Gibson plectrum door knobs

Gibsonknob_300

Gibson produce some of the most recognisable guitars in the world, and also have a logo to match. If you fancy adding a rock ‘n’ roll touch to the rooms in your house, how about these Gibson guitar door knobs?

They are handmade by Karoline Mileham using plectrums and, for the finishing touch, she also makes matching wall switches. It’s a simple and effective idea and the £7.99 price tag, though a significant mark-up on the cost of the individual plectrums, is still nowhere near the cost of one of their guitars.

Clover table from HarBenger2

Clover table

HarBenger2 are another company that combine new designs with recycled elements, including the Clover Table illustrated. The table combines an old metal planter base that's been painted in matt black with a shaped, walnut veneer top to create an interesting, contemporary look.

The nature of the recycled elements means that, although the objects can look similar, they are never quite the same so it's worth keeping an eye on the designs for sale at their Etsy store. This design costs $130 but, as the duo are Houston based, you'll need to add shipping fees onto that price.
