Navy Princess Coat from Miss Selfridge

Princesscoat

While most of us are still getting the best out of our Summer wardrobes, the first of Autumn's fare is moving into shops across the high street. This Navy Princess Coat from Miss Selfridge has an irresistible vintage feel that could even manage to make us look forward to September's weather.

The contrast between navy and brown has a very retro warmth, using a variety of textures and fabrics to create an air of luxury. The pleated skirt adds something special, with the addition of round metallic buttons to tie the sixties influences together.

It's now available from Miss Selfridge for £85.

Colour Block Blouse from Whistles

Colourblock

Though it has been a British staple for over 20 years, Whistles is one of those brands that is often overlooked on the high street. Their recent lines, however, have focused on a cool and sophisticated aesthetic that draws heavily from vintage inspiration with great success.

This Colour Block Blouse is an ideal example of their use of subtle design and high end manufacturing and materials. Made from 100% silk, the blouse has an androgynous air of mid sixties style, with contrasted trims at the collar and placket creating sharp structure in both colour options.

It's available now in both shades from Whistles, priced at £125.

eBay watch: 1970s space age Estyma alarm clock

Est

Big thanks to Andrew Graham for spotting and sending us this superb piece of 1970s space age design, the Estyma alarm clock.

It's a digital flip clock, made in (West) Germany, with that bold yellow outer shell contrasting with the black and white display within. No power needed either – this has an old school wind-up, one mechanism for the date, the other for the time.

The clock is said to run 'fine', with the bright yellow case said to be 'virtually unmarked'. The only blemish is a 'small chip' on the clear scene, which isn't all that noticeable, check the images on the site to see if it's a deal breaker. If not, bidding right now is at just 99 pence.

Fred Perry x Amy Winehouse autumn/winter 2011 collection goes on sale posthumously

Amy_winehouse

I'm sure there are mixed feelings about whether this should actually be going on sale so soon after Amy Winehouse's tragic death, but according to the company, 'with the blessing of Amy's family', the Fred Perry x Amy Winehouse autumn/winter 2011 collection has now gone on sale.

With the latest collection being launched so soon, we can presume it was already completed and ready to hit the shelves. With 'the usual royalties' from the collection being donated to the soon to be established Any Winehouse Foundation, I guess it does make sense to release it onto the market, rather than just sit in a storeroom, even if it does seem just a little soon for it.

Anyway, check out the images above and the full collection over at Fred Perry. For the record, the '50s-inspired items above are (on the left) the Amy Bowling Shirt, which sells for £70, the knitted silk skirt (£80) and the Amy Leather Waist Belt (£60). The images on the right features the Houndstooth Tie Neck Dress, one of the more expensive pieces at £150.

Heal’s Discovers Geometry Sideboard

Geometry_sideboard_m
The Geometry Sideboard by Burgundy Applegate is part of a range of products in the Heal’s Discovers range. It is inspired by both Danish design and Art Nouveau.

It has a solid walnut frame and a lacquered top. It is available with either the patterned front shown here or in plain grey, costing £795 and £695 respectively. It is smaller than most sideboards, so is ideal for rooms tight on space. They are available to order from Heal’s, although won’t be available for delivery for  approximately another 3 months.
