Rose Tote Bag from Barbour

Bag
In terms of things quintessentially British, Barbour are right up there with bulldogs and afternoon tea. The brand has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity recently and have started to go beyond the wax jackets that made them synonymous with the great outdoors.

The Rose Tote Bag is a great example of the sort of quality you'd expect from Barbour with a vintage feminine twist. The tan leather accents surround a decidedly summery liberty rose print in very practical wipe-clean PVC, ensuring it won't ruin when you're trudging around the Lake District whatever the summer weather may bring.

The Rose Tote is £129.95 from Barbour. See the website for more details.

Elvis Paper Doll Print

Il_570xN_90575721

Claudia Varosio’s best known work are her illustrated film posters, but she also has a small collection of paper doll prints, including this Elvis Paper Doll Print.

The print features a cartoon Elvis in his pants and vest surrounded by a selection of his most famous costumes (including a white jumpsuit), all with little tabs on them like paper doll outfits. The print measures 18 by 12 inches and costs about £12. Other prints in the range include David Bowie, Edie Beale (from the classic documentary Grey Gardens) and Clint Eastwood.

Buy them online from Claudio Varosio’s Etsy store.

Lo-Fi – retro photo effect application for your PC and Mac

Lofi

Recently, we featured an article on the best vintage camera apps for the iPhone. But what about photos you've already taken on a camera? Well, now there's Lo-Fi.

It follows a similar principle to the mobile apps, but operates on your PC or Mac to offer retro effects for existing photos. You can mix a wide range of effects from the film world, such as grain, colourful cross processing, lens blur, light leaks and frames. Combine more than one to create something unique. You can even hit a button for random effects, if you can't be bothered tweaking.

Along with editing, there's also easy sharing via Flickr and Facebook and if you want to try it out, there's also the option to try for free. If you like, the full download sells for $29.

Double-Lined Cotton Rain Coat by Brooks Brothers

Brooks

When it comes to a classic mac, this Brooks Brothers Double-Lined Cotton Rain Coat is hard to beat. Althugh it's certainly not the cheapest thing on the market for UK buyers.

It's got a removable lining for dual-season wear (because, let's be honest, it rains pretty much all the time here), with details including two outer and five inner pockets, concealed button fastening and a single back vent. That inner layer is made from a cashmere blend too, so warm and comfortable you would suspect.

Another shot over the page, with an asking price of £500 in the UK. Apparently that price is considerably reduced if you buy in the US.

eBay watch: 1970s Guzzini iGuzzini table lamp

Guz1

I probably don't need to tell you the era of this Guzzini iGuzzini table lamp, the design pretty much tells you.

Yes, we're in the space age era of the early 1970s, with a dome shade that's hinged on both sides to attach to a curved base, with both shade and base made of sheet metal with a white painted finish. That hinge also means you can adjust the amount of light given out too.

It's described as being in 'good' condition, with some age-related marks and scratches on the white lacquer, but not to the point of severely diminishing the design. Want it? Right now bidding is at £1.20.
