Build your own Mini Kit

Build a mini cooper

The mini was selected as one of the British design classics at the start of the year for the Royal Mail stamps collection. If you would like to see just how this design comes together, you may be interested in this Build your own mini kit. The mini itself is a 1:38 scale model of the actual car so, in this case, a screwdriver will be of more use to you than an engineering degree. It has all the relevant small bits – from the metal body to the rubber wheels – and also full instructions.

The sales blurb on the shop site mentions the mini's link to The Italian Job. However, this model looks like it is based on a much later version of the car. That small quibble aside, it's a nice bit of kit for just £10.

Many Hands print by Bold and Noble

Many hands

A few months ago we featured the Bold and Noble Love print and their new Many Hands print is equally as stylish. Another in the proverb/instructional type of poster that is so fashionable at the moment, the simple font and old instruction manual style hands of this one give it, dare I say, a lightness of touch.

The print is shown above in the slate colourway but it also comes in duck egg blue. It costs £38.

Routemaster Blueprints

Swatch_1020_sw_image

The Routemaster bus remains a popular icon and has featured on a wide range of products. This item is something that may be of interest to the true Routemaster connoisseur, a Routemaster Blueprint.

The print is a vintage facsimile of the original Routemaster design blueprint, which shows the interior and exterior of the bus from different angles.

Pedlars have a good stock of these prints for sale, sold framed for £155. Visit the Pedlars website to buy.

50s-Style Shower Curtain

16554487_00_b

It can be hard to find a retro shower curtain that doesn’t stray too far into the novelty category, but I think this 1950s-inspired Shower Curtain manages it.

The vinyl curtain features a retro leaf pattern in subtle shades of brown and green. It flies in the face of the modern obsession with stark white bathrooms, but is still tasteful.

It costs $28 (around £18) from the USA Urban Outfitters.

Griffin x Mackintosh classic raincoat

Griffin

At first glance, this probably looks like a classic (you could say timeless) Mackintosh overcoat, a staple of many wardrobes for the wet British climate. But this is a slightly more modern interpretation – the Griffin x Mackintosh raincoat.

Most of the detailing is classic Mackintosh, a knee-length raincoat with concealed button fastening in a 'sand' colour, waterproof of course. But as an added twist, Griffin has added it's trademark 'camo' for the lining and thrown in a couple of underarm eyelets for detail and getting a bit of air inside where it tends to get warm.

Still made in Scotland (of course), but available via Griffin, it sells for £475.

Boden 60s-style Cloud Spotter Mac

Boden1

The other day we featured the Boden 60-style Patent Jacket. Well, it looks like they've got the 60s bug across all of their range right now – which includes this Boden Cloud Spotter Mac.

As you can see above (and from the image over the page), the Mac packs some bold 60s-style prints, which should make sure you don't get lost in the crowd. And if it rains on that crowd, the Mac is watertight and packs a hood, so you'll keep dry too.

Check out all the designs at the site and some more details. The price is £89.
