Adidas x Vespa retro-style holdall

Vespa_bag

Another (new) design from the Adidas/Vespa collaboration and for my money, one of the more eye-catching – the Adidas x Vespa retro holdall.

It's a vintage-style holdall in white, mixing both Adidas and Vespa logo detailing (one side for Adidas, one for Vespa), along with handles, detachable shoulder strap, nubs on the bottom to keep it from damage and of course, a large compartment for all your essentials for the weekend, work…whatever.

ASOS currently has them in stock, yours for £50.

Big daddy

Bettie Page Clothing have made their reputation on dresses, skirts and all that most immediately comes to mind when thinking of pin-up style clothing. These Big Daddy Pants are a departure, but have all the retro flair that the brand has become known for.

A high waistband helps accentuate, or give the illusion of, a tiny waist, thanks to the well made wideleg pants. The pockets at the hip help create extra volume to produce an hourglass silhouette in an instant. Perfect to dress up or down, these are a rare treat in 50s retro pants for the ladies.

1950s Maison fabric from Kokka

Fabric Rehab 50s

Here's a pretty and very feminine 1950s style fabric from Kokka. Called the Maison design it shows a cutaway into various scenes of a house with a definite vintage French feel (though the company is Japanese): there's a ironwork table set with a wine bottle and glass, a dressing table with accoutrements, and a frock hanging up, waiting to be accessorised.

Printed on 100% cotton, it comes in the blue colourway shown and also in pink. It costs £3.60 per fat quarter (quarter of a yard).

Sew-your-own pocket dolls kit from Clothkits

Clothkits dolls

As well as working with contemporary designers, the relaunched Clothkits company continues to draw on its rich archives to produce some striking products, such as these sew-your-own pocket dolls kit. They are based on an original design by Louise Elliott dating to 1978.

The fantastically patterned and colourful dolls come as a fabric panel which, in true Clothkits style, you cut around the outlines of the figures, sew the front and back together and then stuff, making them an ideal beginner's sewing project, as well as an attractive toy. The fabric panel alone is currently on sale for £7.50 and you can also get a kit including material for stuffing for an additional £3.45.

Braun AB5 alarm clock by Dietrich Lubs

Braun_alarm

The last of the classic Braun designs have now ceased production, with the final pieces now starting to leave the shelves. We have featured the ABW31 clock and the AB1 clock in the past, but one other design is also still available via the Design Museum Shop – the Braun AB5 alarm clock by Dietrich Lubs.

It's a great piece of modernist-inspired design, dating back to 1987 and complete with luminous hands, a sweeping second hand, quartz movement, pivoting alarm switch and a clear intermittent alarm.

Good for the bedside or the office desk, one can be yours for £29.95.
