70s style knitwear from Miss Selfridge

Miss_selfridge_knit

Comfortable and casual aren’t two words which very often apply to women’s retro fashion, but with the seventies look it’s a must. With practicality and a laidback aesthetic playing such a key part in the style, knitwear really comes into its own.

Miss Selfridge have come up trumps with this new longline waistcoat. In both a very 70s shape, and also a decade-appropriate pair of colours, these are simple and effective. Perfect for pairing with flared jeans and a simple t-shirt.

Erdem Celyn dress coat

Erdem

With Winter’s fast approach, almost every coat you see is something heavy and woolen. If you’re inclined to be rather less sensible in the name of style, this Erdem Celyn coat might just be for you.

Undeniably good looking, this designer piece is described as a dress coat, presumably because of its formal looks and the tailoring techniques. Much more feminine than most classic styles, the silhouette and neckline on this piece keep it rooted in a truly retro look.

It’s available online from Net-a-Porter for £710. It is 100% silk, after all.

Roberts introduces Christopher Kane limited edition Revival Radio

Roberts_kane

Roberts is never short of limited editions – indeed, with the piano black Revival Radio only just out of our minds, the company has another on the market, the Roberts Christopher Kane limited edition Revival Radio.

The piano black model certainly had an understated charm, but this version of the retro classic, decorated by Glasgow born fashion designer Christopher Kane and produced for Comet’s 75th anniversary, is very much ‘in your face’ with a bright and bold print mixing it with the brass detailing. Oh yes – it’s a radio too with DAB/FM reception, LCD screen and the option of battery or mains power.

Yours for a limited time at Comet for £199.

Gino Sarfatti 2097 mid-century chandelier

Sarfatti

A chandelier doesn’t have to be a stuffy/fussy old thing, it can be as cool as the Gino Sarfatti 2097 mid-century chandelier from Flos – although you will need a decent-sized room to carry it off.

Designed by Sarfatti back in 1958, the 2097 is available in two sizes and two finishes – chrome or brass. A central steel structure offers up brass or chrome-plated arms, home to either 30 or 50 different bulbs. Those aren’t included, so you might want to budget for that too.

But if you can afford them (and the accompanying electric bill), the 2097 can be yours from £944.
