Vintage Perpetual Calendars

Perpectualcals

Instead of wastefully buying a new paper calendar every year, the smart and stylish option is to invest in a perpetual calendar. Pedlars currently have a good stock of Vintage Perpetual Calendars from which to choose.

The stock dates from the 1950s and 1960s and encompasses a variety of styles to fit with your décor and desk space. Prices start at £60, which is considerably more than you’d pay for an ordinary calendar, but in the long-term this will save you money!

Contact Pedlars via their website for full details of the calendars available.

Bottna Ottoman

Ottoman

Surely an under-rated piece of furniture, the ottoman could be making a comeback judging by the range of them available on the Sheer Home website. They provide useful additional storage space that can double as seating, whilst being attractively covered in fabric to co-ordinate with your interior.

Amongst Sheer Home’s range is the Bottna Ottoman which is particularly attractive as it is upholstered in fabric by Marimekko, one of our favourite retro fabric designers. It costs just under £220 with the Marimekko fabric or you can have it covered in your own choice of fabric for £189.99 plus fabric.

Visit the Sheer Home website for further details.

New Look Fifties-style cardigans

New_look_cardigans

I’m pretty sure no one needs telling anymore that for the complete fifties look a cardigan is an absolute must. Whether you’re going for Audrey Hepburn inspired Upper East Side style, or a more Las Vegas grind type pin-up look, New Look have surprisingly got things sewn up.

Their new Autumn range has a huge selection of fitted knitwear to keep you warm and far from frumpy. It features some far from tacky animal prints for the rockabilly girls, and many more demure options for the rest of us.

Prices range from just £10 – £20 in the shops and on the website.

Monsoon vintage styled giftware

Monsoon_giftware

Whether you’re treating yourself or someone else, vintage trinketry is a much treasured thing for many. Unfortunately, though, it becomes harder and harder to find something attractive at an attainable price. For something that has the looks and not the price, Monsoon‘s giftware is a great choice.

This art deco styled hand mirror is one of my favourites, though there are many vintage styled pieces aimed at women including scent bottles and jewellery boxes. Each piece has an air of age about them, but in a good way.

Vivien of Holloway dresses on sale

Vivien_of_holloway

For great looking reproductions of 1950s style you might think you’d be better off looking across the waters to America. While much of the bubblegum style we so fondly remember originated on those shores, you needn’t look any further than your own back yard thanks to Vivien of Holloway.

The boutique’s designs are well loved by rockabilly girls in the UK, and you can grab some of the authentic tailoring now for a fraction of the price. These dresses are available in a variety of prints and are leant authenticity in shape and cut thanks to great craftsmanship.

The halterneck dresses are now in the sale for only £49.

David Wright Blue Lady cigarette case

David_wright

British illustrator David Wright found his relative fame in his drawings of "lovelies" during the Second World War. His pin-up designs not only titillated, but were considered morale boosting for troops at the time too.

Offering a glimpse into the happier spirit of war-time Britain, David Wright’s Blue Lady design has been resurrected for our design pleasure on this great metal cigarette tin. An apt accessory for the time too, this is a great looking trinket for smokers or non-smokers alike.

It’s available online from Love It Have It for just £10.
