Another piece of great merchandising from the V&A’s Cold War Modern exhibition – this 60s-style Dome Umbrella.

Yes, straight out of Swinging London, the umbrella has a cover made of strong PVC, with a number of see-through portholes so you can immerse yourself to keep dry, whilst still being able to see where you’re going.

Take your pick from the red above or pink, grey or black, all selling for a bargain £10.

Vintage Perpetual Calendars

Perpectualcals

Instead of wastefully buying a new paper calendar every year, the smart and stylish option is to invest in a perpetual calendar. Pedlars currently have a good stock of Vintage Perpetual Calendars from which to choose.

The stock dates from the 1950s and 1960s and encompasses a variety of styles to fit with your décor and desk space. Prices start at £60, which is considerably more than you’d pay for an ordinary calendar, but in the long-term this will save you money!

Contact Pedlars via their website for full details of the calendars available.

Bottna Ottoman

Ottoman

Surely an under-rated piece of furniture, the ottoman could be making a comeback judging by the range of them available on the Sheer Home website. They provide useful additional storage space that can double as seating, whilst being attractively covered in fabric to co-ordinate with your interior.

Amongst Sheer Home’s range is the Bottna Ottoman which is particularly attractive as it is upholstered in fabric by Marimekko, one of our favourite retro fabric designers. It costs just under £220 with the Marimekko fabric or you can have it covered in your own choice of fabric for £189.99 plus fabric.

Visit the Sheer Home website for further details.

New Look Fifties-style cardigans

New_look_cardigans

I’m pretty sure no one needs telling anymore that for the complete fifties look a cardigan is an absolute must. Whether you’re going for Audrey Hepburn inspired Upper East Side style, or a more Las Vegas grind type pin-up look, New Look have surprisingly got things sewn up.

Their new Autumn range has a huge selection of fitted knitwear to keep you warm and far from frumpy. It features some far from tacky animal prints for the rockabilly girls, and many more demure options for the rest of us.

Prices range from just £10 – £20 in the shops and on the website.
