Lumi – 60s-style cotton dolls

Lumi

We love the Lumi dolls – the hard part is actually finding them!

The dolls are all limited editions, handmade and standing around 45cm high, each one made of 100 per cent cotton with a polyester filling and with detailing (including individual fashions) made from linen, wool and vintage fabric.

Definitely one for the collectors, I would guess a few are floating around eBay as very few seem to be available to buy online right now, although Le Train Fantome still has stock of Lumi #44. But be quick, there’s only two of these – priced at £51 each. Check out the sold designs on the same site while you’re there, if we find more for sale, we’ll let you know.

LogoBag Sapporo Olympics 1972 shoulder bag

Sapporo

As the current Olympic Games in Beijing continues to bore enthrall us all, let’s take a moment to look back to another far eastern Olympics, with the LogoBag Sapporo 1972 shoulder bag.

Sapporo was host to the 11th Winter Olympics back in 1972, offering a timeless and indeed very matter of fact logo for the games – live and learn London 2012. And that same logo has made its way onto a retro-styled shoulder bag in a choice of black or turquoise, both made of canvas (which is ideal for the wet weather) and with a large storage area plus extra front pocket.

Yours for £22.

Marie-Galante vintage-style Make Up Trunk

Marie

Paying homage to the old-style travel trunks that were once a staple of the cruising set is this Marie-Galante Make Up Trunk.

Not sure if you could take it with you, today it’s more of a dressing table, especially if you have restricted space in your bedroom. Folded up and it looks like a vintage case, fold it out and you have a mirror, surface space and an endless number of drawers and other storage areas.

Compact unit, but not necessarily a compact price – £1,695.

Zanotta 1940s Maggiolina lounge chair

Zanotta_mig

It might look like a piece of contemporary design, but amazingly, the Zanotta Maggiolina lounge chair actually dates back to 1947.

That was the year Marco Zanuso unveiled the design, a padded lounge chair with stainless steel tubular frame and a choice of black or white leather for the ‘sling’ and padding. Oh yes – and not forgetting the goose feather stuffing for extra comfort.

Prices vary dependent on your choice of finish, but start at a whopping £3,000.

iBlock – Lego-style iPod speaker

Iblock

We mentioned the Lego iPod plug-in speaker when it was offered for sale over at Fred Flare. If you weren’t able to pick one up from there, you can now pick one up from I Want One Of Those – with the speaker now renamed the iBlock.

New name, but essentially the same gadget – just plug the brick-like speaker into the bottom of your iPod and you can give the earphones the boot. Volume can be controlled by the to central ‘bumps’ and the speaker is powered by your iPod, so no batteries required.

Take your pick from white, black or red, all retailing for £12.99.
