Retro World Cup Posters

WorldcupSporting Greats are selling a range entitled “World Cup Art” which includes all of the World Cup Posters from the 1930s up to 1990.

Pictured here is the earliest poster (and arguably the best) which is the Art Deco style poster from the Uruguay tournament in 1930. Others of note include Sweden 1958 (a predominantly yellow design), Argentina 1978 (a blue image of two players) and Mexico 1970 (a simple pink design featuring the typical seventies style font). There is also one from England’s 1966 World Cup, which features a cartoon lion if you are particularly patriotic.

All of the posters cost £14.95 and can be ordered via Amazon.

40s inspired workwear from Florence & Fred at Tesco

Office_2_

The increasing quality of style available from our supermarkets never fails to surprise, and with prices still remarkably low they’re a great way to grab some affordable wardrobe staples.

No one wants to splash out too much on workwear, so Florence & Fred at Tesco‘s Office Romance collection is a great choice. This 40s inspired suit is simple but remarkably stylish. With a tailored cinch waist and kick frills on the skirt it’s got that little something extra from most ordinary work ensembles.

Unsuprisingly the best part is the price, a bargain at just £50 in Tesco stores across the country.

Pigletchops offers limited edition men’s shirts made from classic 1950s Mary White textiles

Piglet
A mix of the old and the new – new shirts made from vintage textile designs – Pigletchops limited edition Mary White textile shirts.

Mary White was a successful textile designer in the 1950s – producing textiles for the likes of Heals, Liberty, Edinburgh Weavers, David Whitehead and Turnbull & Stockdale. In fact, some of her designs reside in places like the V&A and The Whitworth Gallery in Manchester.

The shirts are the work of Mary’s daughter-in-law, produced in limited numbers (100 of each) from 1950s designs created then stored away…until now. All the shirts are semi-fitted, made of 100 per cent cotton poplin and have a two-button single cuff. They retail for £149 each.
