Knitted Icons – knit your own Audrey Hepburn

Knitted_icons
Knitting is back and it’s cool – especially when you are making Knitted Icons.

Knitted Icons is a book of patterns for making – you guessed it – icons past and present, including everyone from Madonna and Jackie O to Chairman Mao and Che Guevara. Each doll is 10 inches tall and apparently, easy enough for the beginner to attempt.

And if you don’t want to risk your cash, here’s a bonus – you can download the pattern for the Audrey Hepburn doll absolutely free by following the link below. And if you want the book, you can order it from Urban Outfitters for $15.95 (around £8).

Gola 40th anniversary Harrier trainers

Gola_harrier
In 1968, the Gola Harrier trainer was designed by Fred Dilley as an all-rounder for virtually any sport. And with 2008 approaching, Gola has reissued the Harrier in a special 40th anniversary edition.

Originally available in just white and green, it went on to be released in 200 colour combintations and a few style changes. The 40th anniversary shoe will be faithful to the original design and in the colours you can see in the image – for both men and women. And to add that special touch, they will be sold in the original box design, each containing a leaflet about the shoe.

The shoes retail for £45.

Architectural Masterpieces Colouring Book

Colouring

Like bouncy castles and park swings, colouring books are ordinarily the preserve of children, not the done thing once you get above a certain but secretly something we’d probably still like to do from time to time.

People Will Always Need Plates have found a solution to this with their Architectural Masterpieces Colouring Book. Featuring outlines of their 23 favourite buildings, ranging from mansions to tower blocks, it provides a rather grown-up topic for colouring, certainly not one for the children.

It costs £5 and can be ordered from their website.

Typeseat Poster

Tim_fishlock_500Following on from the Modernist Flashcards featured yesterday, here is another quirky take on the alphabet – the Typeseat Poster.

Set on a black background, each letter is represented by a white chair. The O is Ball Chair, the C is a tilted Egg Chair, others are less obvious to spot and some are turned upside down and twisted around to form their letters.

The poster is a limited edition silkscreen print by Tim Fishlock and can be bought for £35 from TwentyTwentyOne.

Stuck On You – kitchen hooks like traditional saucepans

Saucepan_coathooks

We love our quirky design – and these Stuck On You kitchen hooks are some of the best we have see in a long time.

Looking like a traditional saucepan, these semi-pans are made of steel with a lacquer finish in red, white or black and are ideal for hanging up your tea towels or kitchen utensils. Although you might need a wide kitchen to hang them – they’re 22cm from wall to the end of the handle.

Each hook retails for £38.95.
