I do like this Metro coffee table – mid-century design with a modern twist.
The table could be quite useful either as a coffee table or as an occasional table. And there’s that lower shelf, which means even more storage – or somewhere to hide your magazines. It should be hard wearing too, as it’s made from solid yompa wood, which is incredibly hard and able to withstand plenty of knocks.
The only downside is the price – £345 seems a bit steep.
Vinyl products by Brooklyn artist Jeff Davis have been featured here before, but now his range, including the Vinylux Bowls, are available from a UK stockist, Pop Guru.
Helpfully, Pop Guru will let you pick the record you want for the bowl. Already in stock are titles by the Beach Boys, the Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Sly & the Family Stone and the Rolling Stones. If none of those are to your taste, unlike most DJs, they do take requests. The bowls are suitable for serving dry snacks, but with a credible choice of artist, you won’t have to worry about needing to cover up the record’s label.

New online store Oli doesn’t offer much that is hugely different from what is already available in catalogues or on the high street, but we did spot this Retro Traffic Duvet Set.
With its brightly coloured pictures of VW Beetles, Minis and camper vans, it is a tad more stylish than the Disney characters or football team duvets sets usually offered for kids’ rooms. And it is never too early to introduce youngsters to the classic vehicles of the past.

Apparently Honda is going retro, reissuing its classic 1969 CB750 motorbike in virtually identical form to the original.
According to a report in Motorcycle News (not my regular read, I was tipped off), the company has enviously eyed the success of other retro bikes like the Triumph Bonneville and fancies a piece of the action. The only change is the engine – the old one wouldn’t pass emissions laws, so a new air-cooled engine is in development.
The first prototype should be shown off at the Tokyo Motor Show in October. And if you can’t wait that long, check out the picture to the right, because if it is identical, that’s what it will look like.
Yet another retro-styled radio, this time from the US – Lexon’s Mini-Dolmen retro-style clock radio.
Not as obviosuly retro as the recent Bush radio, this one takes the traditional radio shape and gives it a modern makeover – mostly by use of bold colours. For your money you get AM/FM reception via the telescopic antenna, along with an alarm – if you can stomach those bold colours at 7am.
