Floral Cape Top from Dorothy Perkins

Capetop

For an instantly recognisable seventies look it's all about the shape and silhouette. This Floral Cape Top from Dorothy Perkins combines well chosen fabrics and textures with a vintage inspired cut to create an instantly recognisable retro style.

The cape overlay on the simple chiffony top is what makes it most special, creating a silhouette that's one of the more forgotten seventies styles. The simple floral print doesn't detract from the fabric's draping, while adding a sweet late sixties edge.

It's available from Dorothy Perkins for £27.

eBay watch: 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

Karmann

It's a classic shape – and if you like the colours yellow and black, this Volkswagen Karmann Ghia might be for you.

Dating back to 1972, it's a right hand drive model, MOT'd until June 2011, with leather upholstery, original carpet and door panels having been 'renewed'. That colour, by the way is original, albeit resprayed back to its original colour. The 1600cc engine is said to work fine too.

Right now it's at £2,500. Not perfect for the current weather, but come the spring, you might just be glad you invested in it.

This Heart Print Dress is one of the best sixties looks, providing a very British style from the time. The a-line skirt combined with bell sleeves and a peep hole neck provide the ideal silhouette for a quirky print. In shades of mustard yellow and navy, the palette is spot on too.
