1980s Puma Whirlwind II trainers are back in grey and green

Whirl1

We saw two colourways of this reissued earlier in the year, but now you can pick up the Puma Whirlwind II trainers in a choice of grey or green.

Like their predecessors, the new Whirlwind II are based on a classic 1980 running shoe, originally with a running spike, with the new version changing that for a multi pimpled outsole for extra shock absorption.

The upper is a mix of suede and nylon (along with a leather stripe) and both colourways (the other pictured over the page) are available now. Price is £49.99.

Boxsall Urban picnic

Boxsal_urban_1

There's no doubt that picnic season is well and truly upon us. As a change from using the traditional wicker as a means of carrying your stuff about, how about a more 80s inspired look with the Boxsall urban picnic?

As you can probably tell from the picture, it's a box printed to look like a boombox. It's not just a novelty item however, as it also contains some pretty useful stuff: eating implements, trays, bowls, cups, napkins and even a rubbish bag. As an eco friendly incentive, everything is made from compostable materials. Alas it doesn't also provide the food or musical soundtrack for your picnic – you'll have to look elsewhere for both of those.

The urban picnic costs $35.

Mesh Prom Dress by Glamorous

Meshdress

Babydoll and prom style dresses are two of the many mid-20th centuries shapes that currently undergoes reinvention from decade to decade. Arguably the most arresting reinvention of this style was done in the eighties, as echoed in this Mesh Prom Dress by Glamorous.

Providing a distinctly eighties take on the shape is the choice of fabric and texture, creating a spunky edge to a very girly style – an interplay that characterised much eighties mainstream fashion. The peach tone and empire line echo the classic fifties vibe of the prom dress, while the extreme hemline gives a decidedly modern edge. Perfect for capturing the ethos of eighties street fashion.
