Pinup and cheesecake models go hand in hand with props, especially those that are impractical but great looking. Parasols, particularly those with Americana style or Oriental designs are a staple of cheesecake style modeling, and a fantastic accessory.

My Baby Jo have a great little selection of paper parasols in various sizes, shapes and colours. Shown above are the flower shape (left) and the classic round shape with a sweet floral design. In classic pastel shades, featuring vintage inspired florals and delicate design.

They're available online from My Baby Jo from just $10 apiece.

Debenhams Collection orange bowling bag

Debenhams collection

Bowling bag is a term used loosely on this Debenhams version, but whether the name's right or not, this is a bag with plenty of style. From their own brand Collection line, this faux leather shoulder bag is a classic in the making.

The structured style of the body gives this bag a timeless appeal, while the bowling bag style straps give it an everyday wearability. The burnt orange shade (it's brighter in person, we can assure you) is a perenially stylish sixties and seventies option. It fits here perfectly with black accents to give this a subtle retro sports feel.

It's available online or in the shops from Debenhams for just £20.

Floral Peplum Dress by Warehouse

Peplum floral

We told you of the re-re-re-return of the Peplum skirt a while ago on Retro, and they are still making appearances in various forms on the high street. The latest is this Floral Peplum Dress by Warehouse, taking a less severe angle on the style.

Using a more breezy fabric, this dress eschews the rigidity of classic thirties and forties peplum designs, instead creating a more subtle silhouette. It's still rooted in the era's style thanks to the emphasis of the hip, and the use of a tea dress shape elsewhere. The floral pattern is kept era appropriate by its subtle colour palette too.

This dress is available from Warehouse for £45.

Ruby Photo Skirt Kit

Photoskirt

The Ruby Photo Skirt is a collaboration between two companies we’ve mentioned before. The print has been designed by Mini Moderns, featuring a collection of black and white and sepia tint photos from 1935, whilst the skirt kit has been put together by Cloth Kits.

The kit contains everything that you need to make the skirt, in sizes from 8 to 20. It costs £35 but if you have no inclination to sew, then you can buy a ready-made skirt for an extra £13.

Visit the Clothkit website for further details.
