Oliver Goldsmith “Hep” Sunglasses

094607_pop

The Cold War exhibition at the V&A has finished, but you can still buy the related products at the online shop. Amongst a selection of original Oliver Goldsmith’s designs are these “Hep Sunglasses”.

These sunglasses were worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1963 film “Charade”, a film where Ms Hepburn’s wardrobe is as exciting as the plot. Like other Oliver Goldsmith designs, they are made completely by hand, which is some justification for the price.

They cost £400 from the V & A Shop.

Jimmy Choo Lawson stacked wedge heels

Jimmy choo lawson shoes

Wedge heels have gone from must haves to old hat many times since their first outings, but whatever the reinvention they still say "retro". These Jimmy Choo stacked wedges are a perfect pair for sixties and seventies style with high glamour.

The Lawson shoes, possibly named for Twiggy herself, combine a classic burnt orange colour from the era, with the popular seventies heel shape. Simple in shape, the peep toe and slingback design isn't new, but is done with simple elegance in this pair.

They're available online from Net-a-Porter now for £416, as part of the brand new Spring/Summer 2009 ranges.

Ladies brown bowler hat from La Redoute

Redoute bowler

Androgyny has been a recurring element in fashion for longer than most of us know, but it always has been most accepted for women. If you're looking to take some cues from a dapper male wardrobe, this bowler hat from La Redoute is a great statement piece.

With the sort of menswear reference befitting Annie Hall, this hat is a classic that will automatically be given a twist just by being a female wearer. In a brown felt, this has a real 70s colour palette already, meaning it has even more of a nod to Woody Allen's iconic leading lady.

It's available online from La Redoute for £22.51.

Vintage Bausch and Lomb Sunglasses

Baushlomb

Despite the rain and snow of recent weeks the sun is peeking out here today, which is a good enough excuse to contemplate buying a new pair of sunglasses. Currently in contention are these vintage Bausch and Lomb sunglasses.

Dating back the 1970s, there are two styles available from the company who manufactured Ray-Bans. They are being sold by Pedlars complete with their original packaging, which includes the original price tag of £29.99. Sadly, they are on sale for rather more than that now (inflation and all that!), priced £59.

Visit the Pedlars website to purchase.
