Warning: Tie dye prints are ‘back’

Ombre

Sometimes fashion trends makes us scratch our heads a little bit. As if the recent influx of 80s-inspired looks wasn’t bad enough, now everyone’s talking about tie dye. The fashion crowd are calling it ‘ombre‘, but that isn’t enough to fool those of us who remember the 90s.

The classic hippie colouring technique had an ill advised revival in the 1990s, and true to recent form the catwalks are rehashing everything we slightly regret in those photos of our teen years.

If you must, these dip dye items are from Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Oli and Brantano. But don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Seventies inspired Spring designs from Marc by Marc Jacobs

Marc_jacobs_spring_70s

The seventies are the fashion houses’ new favourite retro decade, and designer Marc Jacobs has gone one further than most with his sometimes kitsch and often impressive retro designs.

Taking his inspiration from air hostesses of the 1970s, his lines are packed with geometric prints and plenty of rich browns and oranges. While others boast about evoking the decade, this quirky collection comes the closest by far.

Betty Boop boudoir cardigan from Kitsch Shop

Betty_boop_cardi

Betty Boop handbags and run of the mill merchandise are ten a penny since the raciest cartoon character of the 1930s became a Disney icon. Unfortunately that sometimes means we can forget how fantastic she really was – the ultimate pin up girl with a serious wiggle to boot.

It seems apt, then, that this cardigan has something vaguely rockabilly about it. Available from Kitsch Shop, this Boudoir Betty Cardigan is a cute piece of kitsch fashion that features a fantastic image of Betty that beats the modern interpretations hands down. All that for just £19.95
