Eames Rar rocking chair
Think rocking chairs and you think elderly grandparents, or even worse, Val Doonican. But they can be quite stylish if you pick the right one - and one that's very right is the Eames Rar rocking chair.
Like all great design, it's ahead of its time. Amazingly, this rocking chair dates back to 1950 - and 57 years on, it still gets a reaction. The Rar uses a polypropylene seat on a wire base with chrome-plated cross struts and stained maple runners.
As you would expect, this isn't cheap, but at £345, possibly cheaper than you may have thought.
