I think the original Eero Saarinen Tulip Table And Chair Collection is often viewed as a late ‘60s or 1970s design, but actually dates back as far as 1957. In fact, Knoll produced a 50th anniversary range for it back in 2007. Despite its age, the design still inspires today, with the Cast pedestal dining table at West Elm being the latest piece with the look to hit the market.
This one obviously differs in a couple of ways. Firstly, there are no matching chairs for this table, but as the images show, it is easy to match the table with some wooden chairs for a stylish look in the kitchen or dining room.
The second different (as hinted at above) is the finish, which is a mix of mango wood and a hand-cast metal base for something very different to the usual white finish of the Tulip.
