A past classic has inspired the WearIt speaker by Michael Young for Brionvega.

That vintage design is the 1960s Brionvega TS 207 handheld radio, one of the first products released by the Italian design house. Do a search for one, it really does have the look, the same vintage-style branding and the same little ‘satchel’. But technically, the WearIt speaker is all about the modern era and high-end audio.

In terms of build, the WearIt is made from pressed aluminium, with rounded corners and a detachable handle that allows the speaker to be carried around, slotting into an accompanying leather shoulder bag for storage or transport. Yes, just like the original radio.

Control is via four buttons for power, volume control and hooking up the speaker to a mobile phone or other Bluetooth device. There is also a rechargeable battery (lasting up to 24 hours) plus a USB slot. You can also hook up multiple speakers for surround sound.

It looks good and doubtless sounds good too. Sadly, what we don’t know yet is the price. The WearIt speaker will be available from 19th November though, so an outside chance of getting one for Christmas if you keep an eye out. We certainly will.
