It isn't out for a while, but if you like to plan ahead, you can pre-order a copy of the House & Garden Fifties House (Decades of Design) book by Catriona Gray.

According to the initial write-up, the book is based around the House & Garden magazine of the period, with midcentury modern enthusiast Catriona Gray working through the magazine's archives, picking out the best illustrations and photographs to demonstrate the use of colour, pattern, homewares and furniture throughout that particular decade.

The book also looks at the homes of key tastemakers too, including Le Corbusier, Giò Ponti, Terence Conran and Hans and Florence Knoll.

Best of all, this is the first title in the Decades of Design series, so expect a 1960s volume along a little further down the line. But for now, you can pre-order a copy of this 224-page hardback book in advance of its October publishing date. The price is £30.
