Floating house shelves

These Floating House Shelves by Judson Beaumont aren't the easiest things to get your hands on. But they are far too cool not to flag up.

If you can't make it out to Palm Springs, bring it to you! These shelves are inspired by the modernist butterfly-roofed houses associated with the Californian city.

They've been lovingly created by Beaumont – a Canadian furniture designer – from his left-over materials, such as scrap wood and recycled plastic laminate and cork. They look like dream doll's houses, especially when kitted out with mini design classics as they are here. However, they are actually designed to hold items without a regular home such as post, keys or even glasses (making them the fanciest glasses cases you ever saw).

Anyway, whether you want to use them, or simply admire them, they're sure to get snapped up quickly.
