Habitat’s Girl On A Motorcycle movie canvas poster

Motorcycle

The film might not be very good, but the poster for Girl On A Motorcycle is an iconic image of the 1960s. And it’s available to buy from Habitat as a canvas print.

It features the one memorable thing from the 1968 flick – Marianne Faithfull’s leather catsuit, which she slips on to ride her motorbike over the border to Germany to see her ‘other man’ – Alain Delon.

Still an image with impact, you can buy it instore or online for £85.

Mona Lisa Clock

MonalisaProbably the most famous painting in the world, The Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci has intrigued people across the world for generations. Now someone has made the image into a clock!

The Mona Lisa clock has the enigmatic lady printed onto aluminium and the clock hands cut out of the image. At certain times of the day, the picture is briefly complete, but at others it takes on an altogether more surreal appearance.

I’m not sure I’d want it in my lounge, but if you like it, It is available to buy from Pop UK for £29.

New Keep Calm prints – Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining and Stop And Smell The Roses

Calm_new

I don’t know about you, but we’re getting a bit tired of these retro ‘advice’ posters. What started off as something of a novelty with the Keep Calm And Carry On Poster back in mid-2006 has become a full-time industry. And the joke isn’t really funny anymore. But just in case you’re still up for them, heres the latest pair from the Keep Calm Gallery – Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining and Stop And Smell The Roses.

The ‘Every Cloud’ does at least have an interesting design element – it’s actually made up of thousands of metallic dots, with that metallic silver ink printed onto a 175gsm ‘smoke’ paper that measures 20 x 14 inches. 100 of these, each retailing for £18.

The Art Deco-inspired ‘Roses’ is printed onto off-white recycled paper, also measuring 20 x 14 inches. Again, 100 of these, retailing for £18.

“Make Do and Mend” Limited Edition Print

MakedoandmendThe “Keep Calm and Carry On” products have been so successful that they have inspired various similar designs such as the ‘Wake Up and Smell the Coffee” print we featured recently. Pedlars, who have been selling the original “Keep Calm” poster, have now commissioned their own exclusive prints in the same fashion.

The “Make Do and Mend” print consists of this wartime slogan printed using traditional wood block techniques, printed by one of the few printers in the country still using this method. The design has been created by Gail Bryson exclusively for Pedlars.

The price of a framed print is £125. There is also another design bearing the warning “Don’t Talk Over Music” also available from the Pedlars site.
