Habitat Turbine Clock

Habitatturbineclock

George Nelson designed a Turbine Clock back in the 1950s, which perhaps provided some inspiration for the clock of the same name currently available at Habitat.

Whereas Nelson’s clock used brass, this one is made mainly from wood, but the results are just as striking. It has been designed for Habitat by Robin Farquhar & Hannah Dipper, who might be better known to regular readers as People Will Always Need Plates.

The Turbine Clock costs £60. For further details and to find your nearest store, visit the Habitat website.

The Chinese Checker Table is an unusual side table that is also a game board.

It has been fashioned from a vintage metal Chinese Checker board, on top of a maple pedestal that has been painted by hand. The table is supplied with a thick glass top and marbles to allow you actually play the old-fashioned game.

It is available to buy online from Artful Home, priced $760 (around £500).

Button Love Cushion

Buttonlove

Of all the many products bearing the word “Love”, I think the Button Love Cushion is my favourite.

The “Love” has been created from hundreds of little coloured buttons, set against a cream think cotton background. The cushion measures 60cm by 40cm and costs £62. If only there was a matching “Peace” cushion…

The Button Love Cushion is available to buy from Rockett St George.

Sixties Swim Happenstance Bag

Orlatributebag

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery apparently so we hope Orla Kiely doesn’t object to the products made my Etsy seller, majkatree. Her Sixties Swim Happenstance Bag is closely inspired by the designer’s signature stem print.

It has been handmade in cotton with felt appliqué in bright colours to give it a 1960s feel. On the inside, it has four useful pockets. It costs $60 (plus $5 shipping inside the USA, $6 everywhere else).  There are purses and cometic bags in similar styles also available.

Visit majkatree’s Etsy store to buy.

Deadworry Bicycle Field Bag

Farthingbag

Deadworry is a small independent print shop in Florida who describe their designs as a mixture of cute and creepy, but don’t that description put you off as a lot of their designs have a retro influence. They have a wide selection of bags, of which this Bicycle Field Bag is my favourite.

The old-fashion bicycle (a penny farthing?) is hand screen printed on 100% cotton canvas in a putty colour. The bag itself looks to be a decent size for carrying around your daily things.

It costs just $20 from the Deadworry website.
