Oliver Goldsmith “Hep” Sunglasses

094607_pop

The Cold War exhibition at the V&A has finished, but you can still buy the related products at the online shop. Amongst a selection of original Oliver Goldsmith’s designs are these “Hep Sunglasses”.

These sunglasses were worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1963 film “Charade”, a film where Ms Hepburn’s wardrobe is as exciting as the plot. Like other Oliver Goldsmith designs, they are made completely by hand, which is some justification for the price.

They cost £400 from the V & A Shop.

Vintage Bausch and Lomb Sunglasses

Baushlomb

Despite the rain and snow of recent weeks the sun is peeking out here today, which is a good enough excuse to contemplate buying a new pair of sunglasses. Currently in contention are these vintage Bausch and Lomb sunglasses.

Dating back the 1970s, there are two styles available from the company who manufactured Ray-Bans. They are being sold by Pedlars complete with their original packaging, which includes the original price tag of £29.99. Sadly, they are on sale for rather more than that now (inflation and all that!), priced £59.

Visit the Pedlars website to purchase.

Peace Jogi Pillow

14991632_00_b

Urban Outfitters USA has gone crazy for patchwork home furnishings, with an arts and crafts range that includes this Peace Jogi Pillow.

The front of the cushion is decorated with the peace sign in a patchwork style appliqué. The reverse is plain but in bright orange cotton, so you could always flip it over if you tire of the folksy front pattern.

It costs $36 from the Urban Outfitters website.

Bailey Tray Table

Bailey_tray_table_small_brown_iso

Eating your dinner in front of the television needn’t be a slovenly habit if you use the stylish Bailey Tray Table.

Designed by Eero Koivisto for David Design, it is a simple item with plenty of mid-century style. The table top is removable so can be used as a tray on its own, although the whole table itself is light enough to be moved around easily when needed. It is available in white, but looks better in the walnut veneer shown here.

It costs 150 Euros (just under £140 given the exchange rate at the moment) from the Finnish Design Shop.

Windmill Straws

78pic_large

Spinning windmills take me back to the seaside of my childhood. So I was pleased to see them recreated in miniature on these Windmill Straws.

The shiny foil windmills have transformed drinking straws into a fun retro novelty. They are sold in pack of 16, but as they just use ordinary straws, you can probably re-use the windmills on new straws.

They cost £2 per pack from Iggloo.
