Joe Colombo 1960s Superleggera armchair returns

Superleggera_2

Despite being well over 40 years old, there’s still something distinctly futuristic about the Superleggera armchair.

The work of Joe Colombo and dating back to 1964, the Superleggera has an oil-varnished walnut structure with padded cushions covered on a leather upholstery.

Take your pick of colours for this design classic (black, yellow, orange, ivory or red), with the chair retailing for a rather considerable £1,974.

Opal Fruits return – but only for a very limited time

Opalfruits

Over 10 years since being removed from the sweet shop shelves, Opal Fruits are back to ‘make your mouth water’ – but only for a very limited time.

Mars is bringing back the sweets for just 12 weeks from this week – and only in Asda stores. Our spies have already been in and seen them, so get a pack while you can. The packaging is authentic too – the manufacturers having visited the Museum of Brands, in Notting Hill, and studied copies of the original distinctive yellow packaging.

Expect the original four flavours – orange, lemon, lime and strawberry – but this time with no artificial colours or flavours. But it’s not all good news – Mars bosses said that there are no plans to bring back Opal Fruits beyond the three months. Although they haven’t commented on the return of the Marathon.

Yngve Ekstrom 1955 Arka chair

Arka2

So simple, but at the same time so very stylish – the Arka chair from Yngve Ekstrom is certainly a lost gem from the 1950s.

Specifically, it dates back to 1955, with Yngve Ekstrom designing this low stick-back chair in solid birch. And now it’s back, with an identical re-issue produced by Stolab again in birch, either in black, white or a natural finish.

Prices start at £402.
