Magno retro wooden radio

Magno

We’ve seen a good selection of wood-based technology at Retro To Go, but we’ve never seen anything like the Magno wooden radio from Areaware.

Why wood? Well, according to designer Singgih Kartono, it’s because of ‘wood’s simplicity and organic vitality’. And because a radio made almost  entirely of wood looks good too I guess. There’s AM, FM and SW bands, large child-like controls and ‘the most current mp3 player compatible electronics’, which I’m guessing means you can plug in your MP3 player and use it as a speaker.

Made of sustainably-grown wood, it retails in the US from April, priced at $275 (around £140).

Aston Martin DB6 sofa

Aston_sofa

The Aston Martin DB6 was produced between 1965 and 1970 – and buying one today is decent condition is likely to cost a small fortune. The Aston Martin DB6 sofa is a cheaper way to sit in one – but only just.

It’s shaped like the rear seat of an actual DB6 with a silver birch finish and red leather upholstery (although you can choose a different colour combination if you like). Oh yes – and the headrests are extra.

Which makes things a little bit pricey – $7,300 (around £3,700).

Cannondale Vintage Ultra street bike

Cannondale_vintage

Looking for a good street bike with some classic styling? You might want to check out the Cannondale Vintage Ultra.

It’s got everything you’ll require for the mean streets of your town or city, along with that vintage look, throwing in a classic “Brooks” leather saddle, front and rear lighting systems, racks, chainguards, fenders, straps, bells, kickstands, pumps and locks with a folding key.

The only downside is the price – one of these will cost you around £1,200 from your local Cannondale retailer.

Mitre Rush – retro-styled running shoes

Mitre

Not heard the name Mitre for a long time – perhaps because most of its business comes from the mundane world of balls and accessories these days. But it has sneaked out a retro footwear range of late – the Mitre Rush.

We’re back in the 1980s here, that nylon top, suede detailing and cushioned rubber sole – well, it is a running shoe of sorts. There’s an endless number of colour combinations to choose from too, including the two pictured here.

Priced are very 1980s too – a pair will cost you just under £30.

Sukie’s Turn Over A New Leaf notebook

Leaf
I love the retro font and artwork on this Turn Over A New Leaf notebook from Sukie.

Essentially it is just a notebook, but one with an attention to detail – side from that eye-catching front cover, there’s also a leaf design in a different shape or colour on every page. And the eco-friendly amongst you, every page is made from recycled paper.

Sized at 6 x 8 inches, you can pick one up for £9.95.

eBay watch: Dog parka with target – and all proceeds go to help homeless dogs

Dog_parka

Thanks to Karen for sending in this mod-themed dog parka with target, for sale on eBay with all the profits going to a local RSPCA homeless dog shelter (Leicester).

It’s sized as 12 inches long (other sizes are available), has a warm nylon shell lining, a fur hood lining (not real obviously) and a target design on the back.

The coat is being modelled by one of the residents of the dog home – and as such, one of the dogs likely to benefit from a purchase. It’s on a Buy It Now for £15.99.
