Wolfgang’s Vault psychedelic rock posters

Wolf_posters

Wolfgang’s Vault is a great site that allows you to stream classic rock concerts absolutely free. And they also sell a range of classic rock posters from the psychedelic age.

Typical are the two featured here for The Yardbirds at the Filmore Auditorium in San Francisco in 1967, with artwork by Bonnie MacLean  and The Who at Filmore East in New York in 1968, designed by Helen Hersh.

Different version are available for each, from original first prints through to more modern re-prints. And as such, the prices vary considerably – from $48 (£24) for a recent print through to nearer $2.000 (£1,000) for an original.

Lec Retro Range refrigerators

Lec_retro
Another alternative to the the ubiquitous Smeg fridge, this time from Lec, which has just launched a Retro Range of refrigerators and fridge freezers.

In terms of looks, there’s very little to choose between the models, all featuring that vintage-style look and retro handle, silver or ivory colour schemes and a wine rack, glass shelves and salad drawer. The main difference is if you want a fridge with freezer box or you want a split fridge/freezer.

Prices for the fridge with box start at £769 (which makes it considerably cheaper than a Smeg fridge), with other models slightly more expensive. See the website for a full breakdown.

Vespa vintage speedometer thermometer

Vespa_thermometer
Old scooter accessories don’t fade away, they just get recycled into other items – like this Vespa vintage speedometer thermometer.

Moulded from the original dies, this no longer keeping track of your speed – instead it keeps track of the temperature indoors. Although, let’s be honest, this is just a decorative item for the sideboard rather than practical item.

You can buy one from the Vespa site, priced at 70 Euros (around £47).

Speedster GW Coupe – classic Mercedes re-invented

Speedster_gwcoupe

If a large sum of money fell my way in the next month, I would certainly consider buying the stunning Speedster GW Coupe.

It’s a modern vehicle, designed  in the spirit of the classic 1955 Mercedes 300SL coupe, complete with the same "Gullwing" doors that caused such a stir 50 years back. There’s also power steering, disc brakes, a five-speed manual gearbox, 5.3 or 6 litre engine, a stylish interior in keeping with a classic and of course, the reliability of a new build.

Obviously, none of this comes cheap. Expect to pay around £47,000 for one, which puts it on a par with any high-end sports car.

Banal Extra Matitoni – clothes stand with giant pencils

Pencil_stand_2
I know very little about this piece of design, except that this Matitoni clothes and hat stand looks like a pot of giant pencils standing in a pot.

Further investigation shows it was designed by Philippe Peyridieu and manufactured by Banal Extra, with the stand made of a mix of aluminium, iron (or possibly steel) and rubber. It stands 180cm high (around 6ft), which means it’s likely to dominate the room of your choice, but should be a talking point for just about every visitor.

It retails in the UK for £250.
