Leica introduces the limited edition M8 in white

It looks like the limited edition Safari model went down well as Leica is introducing amother collector's version of its M8 camera – this time in white.

Yes, that glossy white so beloved of Apple is now heading to a vintage-style Leica. We'll presume this is the updated M8 too, which means a low noise 10.3 megapixel sensor, 2.5-inch display, a range of automatic and manual settings, RAW data capture and compatibility with all of Leica's M-range lenses. Hand-assembled too, like all of the Leica rangefinders.

The white Leica M8 being made available in 'extremely limited numbers', but with a price tag of around £7,000 expected, that's no great surprise.

Summer is on its way – which could mean sun, sea and surf. Indeed, if you're up for the last of those things, you can do it with some retro style with one of the Pedlars classic wooden surfboards.

Marks & Spencer goes modernist with its clear glass coffee table

Does the design above look familiar? Well, regular readers might recognise it as a modernist classic, specifically the Pietro Chiesa Fontana coffee table we featured a few weeks back. Except this isn't that item – it's the Marks & Spencer clear glass coffee table.

The original is an Italian design classic, dating back to 1932, whereas this one is 'inspired by Italian design', according to the Marks & Spencer website. We think we know what they're saying. The proportions are different (the M&S table is certainly lower), but the shape and effect are almost identical, with that clear glass and curves edges bringing modernist style to your living room at a high street price.

That price is £199 right now, but only for the next week. So if you want it, act now. And if you like look, M&S also has occasional and console tables in a similar style.

Good design doesn't have to cost a fortune, you can pick up something like this B&Q retro-styled Zodiac pull-down pendant light for under £50.

It's a great piece of 70-style design – just check any old movie from the early 70s (or indeed design books of the period) and you'll be certain to find something similar.
