Zanotta 1950s Gilda armchair by Carlo Mollino

Zanotta_gilda

Quirky and classic – the Zanotta Gilda armchair is certainly an eye-catching seat.

Designed by Carlo Mollino back in 1954, the chair is built around an oak-dyed ash frame with bronzed-brass detailing, adjustable to four positions, depending on how much you want to relax. And when you do kick back, that 'self-extinguishing' polyurethane/dacron upholstery and leather cover will certainly keep you comfortable.

Prices start at around £2,300.

Gama-Go Funky Bird mini tray

Funky_bird

The design might be attributed to Gama-Go, but the inspiration for this Funky Bird mini tray is very much down to mid-century artist and illustrator Charley Harper.

Not the biggest thing in the world at 6 x 7.5 inches, but certainly a stylish and colourful item, packed with a fine assortment of cartoon birds that are printed in durable plastic – which means it can also take the odd spill.

Yours for a ridiculously cheap $8 (around £5.50).

Modern-day Mr Men characters by Austin

Mrmen_new

Roger Hargreaves devised the Mr Men characters back in 1971, producing around 45 children's books featuring the characters before his death in the late 80s. But none quite like Mr Music and Mr Art by Austin.

A homage to the Mr Men series, new wave/street artist Austin has given the characters a modern-day spin, with the two above being part of a series of limited edition prints.

Each print is A2-sized and a six-colour silkscreen, produced in very limited runs of just 10, signed by the artist. You can pick one up for £80.

Junya Watanabe vs Baracuta Harrington jackets

Juan

It's not easy doing something different and interesting with the classic Harrington jacket, but we think these Junya Watanabe vs Baracuta Harrington jackets hit the mark.

For the uninitiated, Junya Watanabe is a Japanese fashion designer working under the Comme des Garçons label, But for high fashion (which these are), the jackets are actually very wearable. Most of the original Baracuta detailing is intact (there's even a label for both labels inside), with the double-button collar, buttoned cuffs and hand warmer pockets, but there's also a double zip, squared off bottom, patterned lining and of course, those bold fabric designs. Purists will also appreciate the lack of a label on the outside too.

High fashion doesn't come cheap and these are no exception, with prices starting at around £360.

Zanotta space age Hillroad armchair by Christophe Pillet

Hillroad

A modern design, but one that's taken serious influence from the late 1960s-  the Zanotta Hillroad armchair by Christophe Pillet.

This swivel chair has a varnished steel base, with the circular seat upholstered in a stiff but comfortable polyurethane foam. And just to finish things off, there's a choice of nylon or leather for the covering – removable should you ever fancy a change down the line.

Prices vary dependent on your finish, but start at around £1,300.
