1959 Chelsea tea towel design from the Museum of London

Chelsea tea towel

A slice of bohemian London life in the fifties is captured in this Chelsea tea towel, produced for the shop at the Museum of London

It uses an illustration produced for Tatler magazine in 1959 by Mardie Madden and features a stylised map of the streets of Chelsea, which it called the 'liveliest area in town'. Produced just before the 1960s style explosion you associate with the King's Road and the area, the characters illustrated include artistic types, alongside more traditional figures such as the Chelsea guard.

A nice slice of London life, this tea towel costs £6.50.

Sonia has been buying 1960s and 1070s Lundby pieces off eBay of late, Swedish designs that replicate Scandinavian living of the time in minute detail – right down to the avocado bath suites, working light systems and illuminated period TVs and fish tanks.

Lexon safe calculator

Lexon safe

We've featured the bamboo, retro-style Lexon Safe radio previously but the products in the range go beyond that piece to include clocks, flashlights and this calculator.

Designed by Elise Berthier and Pierre Garner, you can tell the calculator comes from the same design family as the radio. Its chunky keys and rounded edges give it that retro look while its got eco credentials too: solar powered and made from natural bamboo with a casing from corn starch bio-plastic.

And the price for the calculator? It adds up to £21.40.

We love the curves, we love the angled legs and we also love that pleated back. That frame is made of oak, while the upholstery is in a neutral-coloured Prescott hide – two Andrew Martin fabric scatter cushions offering a bit of contrast for free.

If you want one, the company is taking pre-orders now, with prices starting at £1,400.
