Industriel furniture collection at Lavender and Sage

Industriel bookcase

If you're looking for some new furniture with a more industrial feel, you may want to take a look at the Industriel collection, new in at Lavender and Sage

The collection looks like it has been taken from a workshop and features a desk, a circular stool and the bookcase pictured, all made from oak and metal. The material has been treated to give it a used feel (so you can pretend it's vintage, rather than purchased from the web): the wood has been patinated and the metal has been greyed and aged.

A set of two stools costs £170, while the desk is £325 and the bookcase is £425.

Ben Javens

The latest collaboration at To Dry For is this charming Sunny Days tea towel, featuring a design by Ben Javens.

The design optimistically heralds the start of the summer, with a illustration showing that indeed the sun has got his hat on. The blue, yellow and brown colour scheme adds to the retro feel of the design.

As with all the To Dry For products, it's a very reasonable way to snap up a piece of design. This tea towel costs £9.95.

Vitra Eames DAR plastic upholstered chair

Dar

The original dates back to 1950, but this is a new take on a classic – the Vitra Eames DAR plastic upholstered chair.

It's still essentially the same Charles and Ray Eames classic, complete with chrome 'Eiffel Tower' leg base and of course, a polypropylene shell (replacing the original fibreglass for ecological reasons). It was the first industrially manufactured plastic chair and is still one of the best.

But in 2010, to add versatility, Vitra has introduced an upholstered version, throwing in a choice of inner Hopsak lining for comfort, which gives it an added use as a stylish lounge chair. Many colours available for the finish, with prices around the £474.30 mark.

Record Cushions by Dark Dog Studio

Record

Dark Dog Studio is the work of designer/maker Hannah Galvin-Horne, producing both fabric and cushions, the latter including these Record Cushions.

The reasoning behind the name is pretty self-explanatory – each of the hnadmade, handprinted cushions features images of vintage vinyl 45s, offered in different sizes and with different colour options for the trim.

The cushions are printed on 100% cotton duck canvas and they come with a 100% duck feather cushion pad. The front of the cushion features the print, while the back of the cushion is dyed in a corresponding colour to the print. All are made to order, so expect a little wait, with prices around the £68 mark.

Midcentury-style Julep sofa by the Designers Guild

Julep

Not quite high street, but this Julep sofa by the Designers Guild sits below designer prices, but certainly offers a classic designer look.

A midcentury-inspired design that screams the 1950s, the Julep is a bench-style sofa with stylish tapered wooden legs, a contrast button back and plenty of curves. If the finish above doesn't appeal, you can opt for any designers Guild fabric or go for a leather finish.

Prices start from around £995 and if you like the look and want something smaller, check out the simlarly-styled chairs in the range.

Der Frankfurter chair from Thorsten van Elten

Der frankfurter

Here's a simple piece of classic design, the Frankfurter chair, available from Thorsten van Elten

Although not attributed to a designer, the shape of the chair is instantly recognisable and has been in production for over sixty years. Made from natural beech, it's a nicely neutral design that will fit in well to many different rooms.

The best bit is that it's currently reduced in price too, selling for £75.
