Tesco retro desk lamp

Tesco lamp

Tesco isn't the first place I'd go when looking for new lighting but their retro desk lamp is worth a look.

It's their budget version of the classic Anglepoise design, made from metal and using the distinctive spring hinging. It's available in either black or the red colour shown. They've also an oversized version of the lamp for sale – measuring 188cm high.

The lamp costs a bargain £20.

Vitra Polygon clock by George Nelson reissued

Nelson2

We featured one of these yesterday, but here's a second reissued George Nelson wall clock from the 1960s – the Vitra Polygon clock.

1961 is the year of original creation, with the Polygon offering a quirky shape with lots of angles and sharp edges, not a million miles from yesterday's Wheel, but this time made entirely from walnut, except the quartz movement of course.

Back on the market now, you can pick one up for £305.

Paradisverkstan pink stripe vase

Paradisverkstan-pink-stripe-vase

A contemporary ceramic but this Paradisverkstan pink stripe vase is a perfect finishing touch to a 50s style room.

The Fifties feel comes from those pastel stripes which go perfectly with the classic shape of the vase. There's a couple of equally attractive variations on the website too, showing the vase with green or brown stripes. The Paradisverkstan pottery has a good heritage too: though it doesn't stretch back to the 50s, they have been producing ceramics in Sweden since 1976.

This vase costs £55.

Zanotta Genni 1930s lounge chair by Gabriele Mucchi

Mucchi

A modernist gem is back for 2010 looking every bit the modern piece of design – the Genni lounge chair by Zanotta.

Designed in Italy back in 1935 by Gabriele Mucchi, it pretty much screams the era with that chromium plated steel frame, which support steel springs, leather upholstery and a Cushion and headrest in polyurethane. The whole thing is adjustable too, with two positions available – for sitting and snoozing no doubt.

Not cheap at £2,975, but it could be a whole lot more expensive – and additional pouf sells for £860.
