eBay watch: English Rose 1950s kitchen units

Screen shot 2011-01-30 at 22.24.12

The English Rose of Warwick kitchen is a 1950s British design classic. The units, which were manufactured by the same company who made the nose cones for the Spitfire, were built to the highest standards and made to last.

This particular set is in the iconic cream and red combination. From the photos, it would seem the units require a little TLC but, with these complete sets becoming more sought after, this is a great opportunity to grab a slice of 50s nostalgia. If you fancy something a little different from the usual DIY store fitted kitchen, it's currently at £251 and is available for pick up only from Pembrokeshire.

1940s-style Campaign Bedside Table

Detail_763
The Sleep Room has recently diversified its product range, so that as well as beds, mattress and linens, they now sell bedside tables too. They have started their collection off with three style, including the Campaign Bedside Table.

Not sure about the origin of the name, but the design was apparently inspired by a 1940s sideboard spotted in a Parisian market. It is made from oak with vintage bronze finish metal legs and has one drawer.

The table costs £225 from The Sleep Room.

Vintage Paper Doll Cushions

Paperdoll_front
Chocolate Creative, aka textile designer Margarita Lorenzo, has produced a cute range of Vintage Paper Doll Cushions.

The cushions feature a design based on those paper dolls who came with a selection of clothes that hooked onto them with tabs. There are three dolls to chose from, Leo (pictured here), Leni or Davide, who are all surrounded by their best vintage outfits. The Leo and Davide cushions measure 40cm by 30cm and cost £43, whilst the Leni design is a little bigger and costs £2 more.

1970s-style Mason table lamp from BHS

Table lamp
Unlikely as it seems, BHS seems to be the place to head if you want to buy retro style lighting on the high street, with this Mason table lamp being a perfect example.

The lamp could have come straight out of the seventies with its mushroom shape. The space age feel is then enhanced by its colour – it's available in orange and white. Made from glass and standing at 25cm high, it's a easy way to add a retro touch to a room.

And it's made even easier by the price. The lamp costs just £30.

Decoupage Telephone

Normal_IMG_7915

We’ve seen plenty of retro telephones that are shaped like this, but we haven’t seen any decorated in the same way as this Decoupage Telegraph by Viva Fabric.

The classic style phone has been covered in brightly coloured vintage fabric using the decoupage style. The phone itself is still fully functioning, unimpeded by its unusual decoration. It still has its original cream cord and rotary dial.

The phone costs £90 from Viva Fabric on Not on the High Street.
